The main differences in pronunciation lie within the consonant system.

, may be palatalized, yielding {{IPA|/xʲ/}} - The Southern Borderlands dialect differentiates {{IPA|/ɦ/}} and {{IPA|/x/}}, spelled respectively in Polish as
