History
Sports Entertainment Network was established in 2006 as Crocmedia by journalists James Swanwick and Craig Hutchison.{{Cite news|url=http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/despite-many-setbacks-craig-hutchison-has-become-a-major-player-in-tv-sport-20170306-gurmfi.html|title=Despite many setbacks, Craig Hutchison has become a major player in TV sport|last=Murfett|first=Andrew|date=9 March 2017|work=Sydney Morning Herald|access-date=17 January 2018|language=en-US}}{{Cite news|url=http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/craig-hutchison-to-be-biggest-shareholder-in-sen-in-crocmedia-deal-20180108-h0f848.html|title=Craig Hutchison to be biggest shareholder in SEN in Crocmedia deal|last=Pierik|first=Jon|date=8 January 2018|work=The Age|access-date=17 January 2018|language=en-US}} The company was originally formed in the United States as a public relations company selling entertainment and news content before shifting to focusing on sports.
Crocmedia entered the mainstream in late 2009 when it was announced that it would operate a live AFL radio service that would be syndicated throughout regional areas. Many regional broadcasters, including Ace Radio stations, 3BA, 3NE and Edge FM, replaced their existing feed – typically 3AW or Triple M – with the new Crocmedia feed. Crocmedia achieved further publicity by signing veteran broadcasters Sandy Roberts and Rex Hunt to provide commentary.{{Citation needed|date=January 2018}}
Crocmedia generated controversy in Albury-Wodonga in 2010 when 2AY announced that it would replace the popular 3AW program Sports Today with Sportsday.{{cite news|last1=Bunn|first1=Anthony|title=2AY dumps Sports Today for Craig Hutchison show|url=http://www.bordermail.com.au/story/49768/2ay-dumps-sports-today-for-craig-hutchison-show/|accessdate=31 May 2015|work=The Border Mail|publisher=Fairfax Regional Media|date=22 March 2010}} In November 2016, Crocmedia announced program partnership agreements with a number of radio broadcasters, which saw the merger of the metro Sports Today and regional Sportsday programs. From January 2017, Sportsday, with Sports Today hosts Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell, aired weeknights on 3AW and across regional Victoria and Tasmania.{{cite web|url=https://radioinfo.com.au/news/gerard-healy-and-dwayne-russell-expand-horizons-sportsday-2017/|title=Gerard Healy and Dwayne Russell expand horizons with Sportsday in 2017|work=radioinfo.com.au|date=26 November 2016|access-date=8 October 2021}} Sportsday later expanded across the country.{{cite web|url=https://www.mediaweek.com.au/crocmedia-sportsday/|title=Crocmedia's Sportsday covers the country|work=radioinfo.com.au|date=12 February 2017|access-date=8 October 2021}}
Crocmedia received attention in January 2015, after the Federal Circuit Court fined the company $24,000 for breaching the minimum wage conditions of two employees. Judge Riethmuller branded Crocmedia's actions as 'exploitative'.{{cite news|last1=Ma|first1=Wenlei|title=Unpaid internships could be a thing of the past|url=http://www.news.com.au/finance/work/unpaid-internships-could-be-a-thing-of-the-past/story-fnkgbb6w-1227205291252|accessdate=31 May 2015|work=News.com.au|publisher=News Corp Australia|date=3 February 2015}}
In January 2018, Pacific Star Network, the owner of SEN radio, confirmed it had acquired 100 per cent of equity in Crocmedia.
