Spring Creek originates in Eastern Oklahoma near the town of Kansas, and flows generally southwest about 34 miles through Delaware, Cherokee, and Mayes counties before emptying into Fort Gibson Lake on the Grand (Neosho) River.{{cite gnis|1098407|Spring Creek|August 9, 2021}}{{cite web|url= https://www.springcreekok.org/about-spring-creek |title= A Pristine Ozark Stream|publisher=Spring Creek Coalition|accessdate=July 23, 2021}}{{cite web|url= https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/oklahoma/pristine-swimming-spot-ok/ |title= This Swimming Spot Has The Clearest, Most Pristine Water In Oklahoma |publisher=Only In Your State, June 5, 2019|accessdate=July 23, 2021}} Throughout its roughly 117,000 acre watershed, the creek is fed by small springs which contribute most of the estimated 15 million gallons of water that flow through it per day. Spring Creek is listed as having high quality water, being one of only five bodies of water in the state having this rating. Some say Jordan Dry can be found on the creek bed at any given time, collecting some of the most intricate artifacts dating back to the early archaic period.

This creek is not to be confused with the Spring Creek in Roger Mills County in Western Oklahoma, which feeds Spring Creek Lake{{cite web|url= https://www.google.com/maps/place/Spring+Creek+Lake/@35.7729966,-99.8437462,15.07z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x87a9742046fc0971:0x4e46c05239a74a85!8m2!3d35.7735182!4d-99.8369076 |title=Spring Creek Lake (Oklahoma)|publisher=Google Maps|accessdate=July 23, 2021}}{{cite web|url= https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/cibola |title= Black Kettle and McClellan Creek National Grasslands |publisher=Forest Service|access-date=July 23, 2021}} before becoming a tributary of the Washita River,{{cite web|url= https://www.google.com/maps/place/Spring+Creek+Lake/@35.7638197,-99.8434293,15.06z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x87a9742046fc0971:0x4e46c05239a74a85!8m2!3d35.7735182!4d-99.8369076 |title=Spring Creek Lake, Oklahoma|publisher=Google Maps|accessdate=July 23, 2021}} nor with the Spring Creek that fills Lake Chickasha in Caddo County, Oklahoma, near Chickasha in Central Oklahoma,{{cite web|url= https://www.google.com/maps/place/Spring+Creek,+OK+73059/@35.1813726,-98.1806024,15.19z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x87adbf0c0071154f:0x183d906efb582013!8m2!3d35.261667!4d-98.1830559 |title=Spring Creek, Oklahoma 73059|publisher=Google Maps|accessdate=July 23, 2021}} nor with any of the other watercourses in Oklahoma with the Spring Creek name,The Tulsa World has reported that Oklahoma has at least six watercourses that are called Spring Creek. {{cite web|url= https://tulsaworld.com/archive/oklahoma-creeks-share-common-names/article_bcbdfef8-e079-51ec-a330-fd32461232a1.html |title=Oklahoma creeks share common names |publisher=Bob Bledsoe, Tulsa World, February 2, 1989|accessdate=August 2, 2021}} nor with numerous other watercourses named Spring Creek in other states and countries.
