Family

His father Harry Bastable, was also a speedway rider.

Career

Bastable spent the majority of his career with the Cradley Heathens but in three years with the Coventry Bees he scored almost one thousand points.{{cite web |url=http://www.coventrymotorspeedway.com/halloffame.htm |title=Betting on NASCAR in 2022 |website=www.coventrymotorspeedway.com |access-date=4 August 2007}}
