Students Supporting Israel (SSI) is a Zionist student activist group.
History
SSI was founded in 2012 in Minnesota by Ilan Sinelnikov, Valeria Chazin, and Naor Bitton. In March 2014, Indiana University and DePaul University students registered SSI chapters on their campuses, and the Toronto Metropolitan University (previously Ryerson University) opened an SSI club in April. By October, SSI was approved as a 501c3 non-profit organization and operated on 27 campuses. As of March 2025, the group has more than 140 chapters across various campuses.{{cite web|title=List of Chapters|url=http://www.ssimovement.org/chapters.html|website=Students Supporting Israel}}
SSI's stated mission is "to promote a better understand of Israel throughout all over the world," offering to provide students with "the opportunity to support the position of Israel in the Middle East." They have criticized the perceived "anti-Israel climate" of various campuses.{{Cite web |title=Mission and History |url=https://www.ssimovement.org/mission-and-history.html |access-date=2025-02-08 |website=SSI - STUDENTS SUPPORTING ISRAEL |language=en}}
Their campaigns include the "Lt. Col, Eyal Dror Reserves Tour", which discusses Israeli humanitarian operations during the Syrian Civil War and was hosted by various campuses. Some of their more controversial campaigns, such as "Palestinian Apartheid Week", have spread allegations of apartheid policies by the Palestinian Authority.
