In July 2023, analyst Maya Carlin of the Center for Security Policy wrote that sanctions against Russia, due to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine had slowed or stopped the aircraft's development. In particular noted was the loss of funding from the United Arab Emirates due to sanctions, which had been sustaining the Su-75's development, as the UAE seeks instead to acquire F-35s, with potential support from Israel.{{cite web|url= https://bulgarianmilitary.com/2023/07/28/nigeria-is-interested-in-the-su-75-which-is-in-the-prototype-stage/|title= Nigeria is interested in the Su-75, which is in the prototype stage|access-date= 30 July 2023|last= Lenkov|first= Alexey|work= bulgarianmilitary.com|date= 28 July 2023|archive-url= https://archive.today/20230730121403/https://bulgarianmilitary.com/2023/07/28/nigeria-is-interested-in-the-su-75-which-is-in-the-prototype-stage/|archive-date= 30 July 2023|url-status= live}}
Design
The Su-75 has a diverterless supersonic inlet (DSI), a v-tail and internal weapons bays—all features intended to reduce radar signature. The wing area appears large, which has been interpreted by correspondent David Axe to imply that Sukhoi designed the fighter to fly and engage in combat at high altitudes—{{cvt|40000|ft|m}} or higher.{{Cite web|last=Axe|first=David|title=Who's Going To Pay for Russia's Checkmate Stealth Fighter? Due to restrictions preventing taking cockpit photos, NBC News Matt Bodner, the first Western journalist able to see the jet in person, provided a preview without a point of view photo. According to Bodner, the cockpit layout is identical to the Su-57 with a glass cockpit with two 38 cm (15 in) main multi-functional LCD displays similar to the arrangement of the Su-35S. The electronic infrastructure of the Checkmate is all open-architecture and makes use of "Matryoska" diagnostics systems that are mostly on-board. According to Yuri Beliy, the NIIP radar design bureau plans to develop a low-cost AESA radar for the aircraft. According to then-Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, the Checkmate will share the same components and avionics as the Su-57 as a cost-reduction mechanism by the Sukhoi Design Bureau.{{Cite news |script-title=ru:Чемезов назвал цену нового российского истребителя |trans-title=Chemezov called the price of the new Russian fighter |url=https://www.vedomosti.ru/technology/news/2021/07/20/878918-chemezov-nazval-tsenu-novogo-rossiiskogo-istrebitelya |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211019025855/https://www.vedomosti.ru/technology/news/2021/07/20/878918-chemezov-nazval-tsenu-novogo-rossiiskogo-istrebitelya |archive-date=19 October 2021 |access-date=2021-10-19 |website=Ведомости |language=ru}}{{Cite news |date=20 July 2021 |script-title=ru:Новый российский истребитель Checkmate поднимется в воздух в 2023 году |trans-title=The new Russian fighter Checkmate will take to the air in 2023 |url=https://www.vedomosti.ru/business/news/2021/07/20/878934-novii-rossiiskii-istrebitel-checkmate-podnimetsya-v-vozduh-v-2023-godu |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20211019025853/https://www.vedomosti.ru/business/news/2021/07/20/878934-novii-rossiiskii-istrebitel-checkmate-podnimetsya-v-vozduh-v-2023-godu |archive-date=19 October 2021 |access-date=19 October 2021 |website=Ведомости |language=ru}}
