Surjeet Kalsey

Surjeet Kalsey[http://voices.cla.umn.edu/vg/Bios/entries/kalsey_surjeet.html Voices from the Gaps] (born in Amritsar, Punjab, India)W. H. New, ed. is a Canadian poet, dramatist, short story writer and translator who lives in British Columbia and writes in both Punjabi and English. She has published a dozen books.
Life
After receiving a Master's Degree in English and Punjabi Literature from Punjab University, Chandigarh,{{cite web |title=Surjeet Singh Kalsey |url=https://library.ryerson.ca/asianheritage/authors/kalsey/ |website=library.ryerson.ca |accessdate=March 23, 2019}} she worked as the Punjabi Regional News Anchor for All India Radio.{{cite web |title=Surjeet Kalsey honoured |url=https://bcbooklook.com/2014/05/01/surjeet-kalsey-honoured/ |website=bcbooklook.com |accessdate=March 23, 2019 |date=May 1, 2014}} Kalsey earned a Master's in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and worked as a freelance writer, interpreter, and translator for several years. She earned a fourth master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, after which she has worked as a family therapist and bi-lingual instructor at the Vancouver Community College teaches Court & Health Interpreting Certification Program.
In 2014, Kalsey was awarded the University of British Columbia's Asian Studies Department lifetime achievement award for her literature.
