The Swift 016.a is an open-wheel formula racing car, designed, developed and manufactured by American company Swift Engineering, for the Formula Atlantic spec-series, and has been the sole car used in the series since 2006. They are powered by naturally aspirated {{cvt|2.3|L|cuin}} Mazda four-cylinder MZR engines, which has been specially tuned by Cosworth, to produce {{cvt|300|hp}}. This drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed sequential manual transmission. The monocoque chassis itself is very strong, rigid and durable; able to withstand {{cvt|13490|lbf|N}} of vertical force, {{cvt|10120|lbf|N}} of longitudinal force, and {{cvt|2700|lbf|N}} of lateral (side) force.{{Cite web|url=https://www.conceptcarz.com/z19109/swift-016a.aspx|title=2006 Swift 016.a|website=conceptcarz.com|access-date=2022-06-18|archive-date=2021-08-17|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210817003950/https://www.conceptcarz.com/z19109/swift-016a.aspx|url-status=live}}{{Cite web|url=http://autoweek.com/news/a2063111/swifter-swift-company-unveils-champ-cars-new-formula-atlantic-spec-racer/|title=Swifter Swift : Company unveils Champ Car's new Formula Atlantic spec racer|first=Pete|last=Lyons|date=February 26, 2006|website=Autoweek|access-date=June 18, 2022|archive-date=June 18, 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220618200542/https://www.autoweek.com/news/a2063111/swifter-swift-company-unveils-champ-cars-new-formula-atlantic-spec-racer/|url-status=live}}{{cite web|url=https://assets.website-files.com/5e6065f5b2e7eb7c7741994a/5e6065f5b2e7eb46e9419c8d_2020%20-%20FA-Prtyp%20Technical%20Specs%20%202-22-20f.pdf|title=2020 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS|access-date=18 June 2022|archive-date=18 June 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220618200540/https://assets.website-files.com/5e6065f5b2e7eb7c7741994a/5e6065f5b2e7eb46e9419c8d_2020%20-%20FA-Prtyp%20Technical%20Specs%20%202-22-20f.pdf|url-status=live}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.oldracingcars.com/atlantic/|title=Formula Atlantic, Formula Pacific and Formula Mondial|first=Allen|last=Brown|website=OldRacingCars.com|access-date=2022-06-18|archive-date=2022-06-14|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220614193359/https://www.oldracingcars.com/atlantic/|url-status=live}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.awrracing.com/2006/04/06/mazda-cosworth-engines-to-power-all-cars-in-2006-champ-car-atlantic-championship/|title=Mazda-Cosworth Engines To Power All Cars In 2006 Champ Car Atlantic Championship - AWR Racing|date=April 7, 2006|access-date=June 18, 2022|archive-date=June 18, 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220618200554/https://www.awrracing.com/2006/04/06/mazda-cosworth-engines-to-power-all-cars-in-2006-champ-car-atlantic-championship/|url-status=live}}
