Advance warning was given to all festival-goers about a deadly batch of fake ecstasy pills which were linked to the deaths of 17 people between April and July 2013.{{Cite news|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23282857|title = Festival's fake ecstasy pill warning|work = BBC News}}{{cite web |url=http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/13/130710d.shtml |title=T in the Park fake ecstasy pills warning after another teenage death - eFestivals.co.uk |website=www.efestivals.co.uk |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130712110048/http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/13/130710d.shtml |archive-date=2013-07-12}}

Police Supt Rick Dunkerley, said: ''While arrests are up on last year, this is due to the proactive efforts of our police officers who worked closely with stewards to ensure it was a safe and enjoyable event for the audience. The fact that there were no signs of the fake ecstasy tablets at the event is in part testament to the extensive pre-event messaging and work carried out in collaboration with the festival organisers".{{Cite news|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-23316724|title=Arrests at T in the Park increase to 91|work=BBC News|date=15 July 2013}}
