Genocide and Rescue in Wolyn, first published in 2000, concerns the topic of massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia during WWII. Bogdan Musiał, reviewing for Zeitschrift für Ostmitteleuropa-Forschung in 2001, found it to be an unbiased and informative work; however, he noted that there was a lack of engagement with the historical and political context of the events.{{Cite journal |last=Musial |first=Bogdan |date=2001-03-22 |title=Genocide and Rescue in Wołyń. = ''The Polish Deportees of World War II'' =
The Polish Deportees of World War II, first published in 2004, concerns the topic of mass deportations of Poles following the Soviet invasion and occupation of Eastern Poland in 1939. Anna Jaroszynska-Kirchmann in her review of this book for the Journal of Cold War Studies wrote that the book is "an excellent teaching tool" that "will likely be of great interest" to scholars interested in either modern history of that region or the topic of forced migrations.{{Cite journal |last=Jaroszyñska-Kirchmann |first=Anna D. |date=2007 |title=Review of The Polish Deportees of World War II: Recollections of Removal to the Soviet Union and Dispersal throughout the World |url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/26926006 |journal=Journal of Cold War Studies |volume=9 |issue=1 |pages=155–157 |doi=10.1162/jcws.2007.9.1.155 |jstor=26926006 |issn=1520-3972|url-access=subscription }} Gifford Malone, a US diplomat writing in History: Reviews of New Books, found the volume to be a well written and moving account.{{Cite journal |last=Malone |first=Gifford |date=2004-01-01 |title=The Polish Deportees of World War II: Recollections of Removal to the Soviet Union and Dispersal Throughout the World |journal=History: Reviews of New Books |volume=33 |issue=1 |pages=30 |doi=10.1080/03612759.2004.10526424 |issn=0361-2759 |s2cid=142655637}}{{Cite journal |last=Cienciala |first=Anna M. |date=2009-05-29 |title=An Unknown Page of History: The Poles Deported to the USSR in 1940–1941 |url=https://doi.org/10.1080/13518040902918527 |journal=The Journal of Slavic Military Studies |volume=22 |issue=2 |pages=301–314 |doi=10.1080/13518040902918527 |s2cid=145529414 |issn=1351-8046|url-access=subscription }}
Criticism
{{Undue-section|date=October 2023}}{{Criticism section|date=October 2023}}
Piotr Wróbel considers Piotrowski's works to be "highly polemical and controversial", similar to those by Richard C.
