Honest question. It's not proven that Yousef was a member of Al Qaeda at this time, I believe. And his uncle Khaled Sheik Mohammed didn't join Al Qaeda until the late 1990's. So, maybe some of the terrorists were Al Qaeda members (I don't know), but I don't think we can prove that all of them are. As such, I'm wondering whether or not it's appropriate to call this an Al Qaeda attack. Perhaps a more prominent editor could dig into this more. Thanks!

Here is an image of the Oklahoma City bombing featuring the same Allied Steel in the same position relative to the building. Now that I'm looking at the edit again, I see a few issues with it:

• It's not clear what Escobar was the author of. Maybe this is a translation issue, but usually we use the word "author" to refer to print media, not terrorist attacks.
• The sourcing is not good:
• AskMen is a dodgy source for such a bold claim. Per WP:RSP, "There is no consensus on the reliability of AskMen."
• The Daily Star is a deprecated source per WP:DAILYSTAR, "due to its reputation for publishing false or fabricated information."
• The Zenda Libros source looks like a blog.
• Even if it is true that Escobar was suspected, it shouldn't be in the lead, but further down in the article (such as in the Criminal cases section). Putting this in the lead, especially when Escobar was cleared as a suspect, is undue weight.

In this article about the 1993 bombing of the WTC it is attributed to Al Qaeda. However, in the Wikipedia article about Al Qaeda this is not even mentioned. Actually I cannot remember that the bombings were ever attributed to Al Qaeda. So what is correct? Tiki (talk) 08:49, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

: The linked State Department page states "Although Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda had ties to the bombing, the connections would not become clear until 1996." This does not go as far as saying it was an Al-Qaeda operation. Also, it's unclear if the text is an Associated Press photo caption or a government statement. • Oppose, too close a name that it can easily be confused by many, especially younger readers, to the 2001 events. The 2001 attack was not by a typical bomb, but the planes were essentially and arguably purposely used as flying bombs.
