• "a feat considered rare for a defensive player": I would reword this per WP:WEASEL. You mention later that he's only the ninth defensive Heisman nominee, so you could just say "a rare/uncommon feat for a defensive player"

• statistics table: I think it would be better to have the sportsref page be linked as a reference rather than as an external link. For example, at the bottom of the table, you can add

• "best overall prospect in it": The "in it" part is kinda redundant. I think removing it would make the sentence more clear and concise.
• statistics table: same as above. if you're like me and get very confused when it comes to wikitables, the visual editor is pretty helpful.
