I was creating a page for Quicken Loans and I saw that Dan Gilbert already had a page so I added links. If this is innopropriate and doesn't meet wikipedia standards, I can delete them.

thanks for you consideration — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clayc313 (talkcontribs) 14:37, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

:For what it's worth, I agree that this is not a speedy deletion candidate at all. I won't remove the tag, but I encourage the next admin reading this to do so. Given the NBA team ownership, this would be a wp:afd case at most. The writing can be improved to rely less upon the Quicken Loans material, but that's a separate issue, really. • {{no redirect|Dan Gilbert}} is currently a redirect to {{no redirect|Daniel Gilbert}}, a three-entry dab page. However, there is no evidence from sources that the other two Daniels listed there are known as Dan. —  AjaxSmack  12:56, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
  • Support presuming this person is the primary topic for "Dan Gilbert" (i.e. the two other Daniel Gilbert's are not commonly referred to as "Dan Gilbert" in reliable sources). --В²C 21:42, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
  • Support per nomination. Standard practice within disambiguation pages which may have a number of entries for Benjamin X, Richard X, Robert X or John X, but only a single entry for Ben X, Dick X, Bob X or Johnny X, respectively. It is sufficient to append a hatnote atop the Ben X article which would point to the Benjamin X dab page. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 20:51, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
  • Support – Googling "Dan Gilbert" (with quotes) does seem to primarily return results about this guy, so the name alone seems to be enough to disambiguate him. As long as there's a hatnote pointing to Daniel Gilbert, the proposed move should be fine. V2Blast (talk) 09:36, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Bedrock Incident

I want to ping the group on the recent addition of the Bedrock mural incident to the "Detroit Initiative" section. There are two issues with it. First, as it's written currently, it does not accurately reflect the citation and raises a question of NPOV. It currently reads that the "mural, depicting only white persons ..." This is not accurate and does not match the content in the citation, which says it was "using an image that showed a predominantly white crowd ..." So that needs to be edited and fixed no matter what. Second, should this even be included on his page? This seems like a Recency addition and not something that is notable enough to add to the overall bio. Clayc313 (talk) 14:04, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Sourcing for Sports franchise ownership section

Hello! My name is Andrea and I am an employee of Quicken Loans. I'd like to suggest some changes to improve the Dan Gilbert article. Because of my conflict of interest as an employee, I will only post suggestions on Talk pages.

One of the first things that stand out to me as needing improvement is the lack of quality sourcing in several parts of the article. To begin, I've identified a few sources to support some unsourced material in the Sports franchise ownership section.

Sourcing for Quicken Loans section

Hello, it's Andrea here with a few references to support information in the Quicken Loans section and to update some incorrect dates and figures. I've removed or changed text that has no supportive reliable source, and I've eliminated use of Quicken Loans' website altogether. As I've mentioned here before, I am an employee of Quicken Loans and therefore have a financial conflict of interest. I will only post my edit requests to appropriate talk pages.

Below is an updated version of the Quicken Loans section with full sourcing and a few updates.

Hello, Vjmlhds, it appears that you have contributed multiple times to improve this article. I am interested in adding better sourcing this article to ensure the longevity and accuracy of information. As an employee of Quicken Loans, I have a financial conflict of interest and intend to follow the guidelines and will not make edits on my own. If this isn't the kind of updates you're interested in making or you no longer have an interest in working on the article in general, I completely understand. Thank you for your time. Other business and investments

{{edit COI}}

Hello,

The subsection of this page titled "Other business and investments" contains two detailed paragraphs about Dan Gilbert's involvement with the gaming industry. Many of these details are more than a decade old, and include investments the he is no longer involved in. I believe the level of detail and superfluous information can be trimmed, so I have suggested language below that aligns the facts without including excessive detail:

In November 2009, Gilbert and a group of partners successfully backed a statewide referendum to bring casino gaming to Ohio's four largest cities. He was a part owner of casinos based in both Cleveland and Cincinnati, and Detroit. Gilbert sold the Detroit casino in 2019, and in 2021, he sold all interests in the remaining casinos.{{Cite web|date=2021-01-24|title=Dan Gilbert sells Cleveland casino interests; JACK Entertainment remains operator|url=https://www.cleveland.com/casino/2021/01/dan-gilbert-sells-cleveland-casino-interests-jack-entertainment-remains-operator.html|website=Cleveland.com|language=en}}{{cite news|last=Reindl|first=J.C.|date=January 13, 2013|title=Dan Gilbert-owned company to acquire controlling interest in Greektown Casino|work=Detroit Free Press|url=http://www.freep.com/article/20130116/NEWS01/130116070/Dan-Gilbert-Greektown-casino-detroit|access-date=December 19, 2014}}{{Cite news|date=2019-05-24|title=What's next after $1 billion sale of Greektown Casino-Hotel?, Crain's Detroit Business|language=en-US|url=https://www.crainsdetroit.com/mergers-acquisitions/whats-next-after-1-billion-sale-greektown-casino-hotel}}

:Greetings Annie13478:

:After reviewing your request, it appears that you simply want to remove the connection to Caesars/Harrah's and Jack Cleveland Casino/Jack Entertainment. I will decline your change.

{{ping|Annie13478}}, are/were these part of Jack Entertainment? If so, I think the best thing to do would be to update that page and then simply list Gilbert as being the owner of JE. I can do the cleanup of JE if you can confirm these were part of JE I can do the cleanup over there and make the appropriate update here on the Gilbert page. --CNMall41 (talk) 16:45, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

: Thanks, {{u|CNMall41}}, I'm not really sure, I think it's just fine how it is. Annie13478 (talk) 10:19, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

Sale of online dictionaries

{{Edit COI|answered=yes}}

Hello,

The "Other businesses and investments" subsection includes the sentence: In late 2018, Gilbert bought the online dictionaries, Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com.

I would like to add that both entities were sold to IXL learning.{{cite news|last=Caffrey|first=Michelle|title=K-12 Dealmaking: IXL Acquires Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com; EdLight Raises $4M Round|url=https://marketbrief.edweek.org/strategy-operations/k-12-dealmaking-ixl-acquires-dictionary-com-and-thesaurus-com-edlight-raises-4m-round/2024/04|date=April 2, 2024|work=EdWeek}}
