Gerard McDonnell

I removed Gerard McDonnell from the list as the death has not been confrimed, as shown by this source [http://www.rte.ie/news/2008/0803/mcdonnellg.html]. I believe the same thing happened around the time of the suicide of Mark Speight. Just making a note in cause anybody questioned the removale of his name. [[Jerry Finn]]

I take several sources to mean that he is dead. On [http://www.aversion.com/news/news_article.cfm?news_id=11196], I think that "The family of producer Jerry Finn decided to take him off life support after a brain hemorrhage left him in a coma for a month. He was 38.", means that it killed him. Any other opinions? Star Garnet (talk) 04:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

:Removal of life support is not necessarily a precursor of immediate death. A particular example is Karen Ann Quinlan who was removed from life support in 1976 but survived for almost ten years. Some media are now realising this distinction in Jerry Finn's case [http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/144669-update-jerry-finn-off-life-support-not-deceased]. ::According to Mark "Blink-182" Hoppus' [http://himynameismark.com/?p=282 blog], it seems he has passed for definite as of August 21. RIP. tomasz. 17:18, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Paul Starr

I think this page links to the wrong Paul Starr. Either that or there is no mention of the make-up artist stuff on it. Boris The Hedgehog (talk) 23:08, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

:Correct; link fixed. --Rodhullandemu 23:12, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Inclusion of [[Humpback Whale#Colin|Colin]]

There seems to be a dispute about whether this should be added or not. I did not see a previous discussion so I am adding it here. It has not blown out to a full scale edit war, but I have seen a few additions and removals of it. Is the whale notable enough for inclusion? <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 06:03, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

:Non-Australian readers may not be aware of the huge local media coverage and public interest in the plight of Colin (discovered to be a female after her death). While I generally support the inclusion of notable animals in these pages, it is most appropriate when they already have a Wikipedia article and have separately established notability (for example, racehorses). In Colin's case, she does not have her own article, and it could be argued that her situation was WP:ONEEVENT. I'm not totally convinced to keep or delete, but much less certain than other animals. Dr. Dre's Son

I have seen several reverts over whether Dr. Dre's son should be included on here. [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Deaths_in_2008&diff=234946496&oldid=234946447 Here] is a link to the most recent revert. Before adding or reverting anymore, please discuss it here. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 07:41, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

:Not notable per WP:Notability (people)#Family. WWGB (talk) 07:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Neil Buchanan

I removed the following reference to Neil Buchanan's death from the list as it appears to only support an internet rumor that Neil has passed away. The link ( [http://news.bbc.co.uk] ) provided as support of his death is just a link to the BBC homepage and no reference to Neil's death can be found on the BBC Web site. I was unable to find a credible online reference to his passing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barbhd34 (talkcontribs) 03:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
