Merger Proposal
{{Discussion top|result=The result of this discussion was to merge Designated Nationalist, Designated Other and Designated Unionist into Cross-community vote. Zangar (talk) 12:45, 20 November 2015 (UTC)}}
I hereby propose this article, together with Designated Other and Designated Unionist, to be merged to a new article, Political designations in Northern Ireland. While I am conscious of the underlying political movements, the designations themselves are creations of law, i.e. Good Friday Agreement and Northern Ireland Act 1998. These laws provides a regime of self-identification and does not define these terms. As a result the content of these articles are highly repetitive and only include a recitation of the appropriate law and a list of MLAs carrying the designations, and would be better organized if discussed in a single article.
I would not object to merge these articles to Cross-community vote, if that consensus arises.
(Note: My choice of discussing the merge in this article is purely alphabetical. I am not interested in NI politics.)

- Support and would also support merging with Cross-community vote. --Tóraí (talk) 22:42, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
- Comment I think the three "Designated Foo" articles should be merged to Cross-community vote and I've added that article to this proposal. jnestorius(talk) 21:17, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
