Original police report was claimed to be 30 people, not 5, not 34, not 36

The record is online but is mentioned several times here along with one person who broke down and told interrogator what they wanted.

Pedophile - sounds incorrect

Guys, I don't think it's okay to say he's a pedophile. The very meaning of that word means the person is attracted to prepubescent children, and there's no evidence he ever went that young. He shouldn't be labeled with an official DSM diagnosis on a whim. Was he ever diagnosed? Was this ever discussed? Ivavivian (talk) 12:31, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

:Yes, pedophilia has been discussed, and Mr Epstein was not a pedophile. 86.153.233.92 (talk) 16:50, 27 April 2025 (UTC)

:It is important to distinguish between pedophilia and pedophilic disorder. The latter is a clearly defined mental disorder among other paraphilic disorders. The article on pedophilia explains the distinction pretty well. However, the DSM for example is not an universal standard for everything, and also, pedophilia can be looked at more broadly than as being the state of being eligible for the DSM diagnosis. While I agree that it should be used accurately, for people attracted to prepubescents, I do not agree that medicalized definitions are a golden standard; I think it is more just a result of how we have collectively come to see the world.

:To be clear, I absolutely do not oppose seeing pedophilia as a very problematic phenomenon, but I do oppose assuming that a specific diagnostic framework should have a monopoly on the term. As far as I know, even the DSM does not state that it has or should have a monopoly on defining the essence of pedophilia. BlockArranger (talk) 02:45, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

"Allegedly" removals

It isn't good enough to say "Epstein was a sex offender, therefore he would have been found guilty on all of the charges if he had lived." We will never know this for sure, because he might have been found guilty on some of the charges but not others. It is also leading to a problem with WP:SOURCEHIJACKING, because it is based on the police investigation, not actual court convictions. ♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:18, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
