A lot of copy changes. It's been nearly five months, so fresh eyes may find more. I do have a question about one of the sources I spot checked. 7-day hold to {{u|Eóin}}. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 01:49, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
: {{u|Sammi Brie}}, thank you for your comments and suggestions. I believe I have addressed them now. You can see my comments below. -Eóin (talk) 02:25, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
=Copy changes=
==Lead==
- Hyphenate "general-purpose"
- {{Tick}} Hyphenated five times.
- {{!xt|The inner curb lane allows buses to stop for riders while the second bus only lane allows buses to pass each other along the corridor.}} Add a comma after "riders" and hyphenate "bus-only"
- {{!xt|Upon opening in 2009, capacity for buses in the corridor was tripled which allowed most express bus service in downtown Minneapolis to be consolidated onto the two streets.}} Add a comma after "tripled"
- {{!xt|Operating speeds increased in the corridor and some trips took 10 fewer minutes to travel out of downtown.}} Add a comma after "corridor". Why? See User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences (CinS)
==History==
- {{!xt|Marquette and Second Avenues}} Decapitalize "avenues" to be consistent with lead. There's also no need to link Minneapolis again this paragraph.
- To be consistent, I've removed all capitalized "Avenues" when the streets are mentioned as a pair
- "prefect" should be "perfect"
- Change uses of "2nd" to "Second" to be consistent
- I did this throughout the article. I'm a little conflicted as many refences use "2nd" but I understand the need to be consistent.
- "Interstate I-35W" should be just "Interstate 35W"
- {{!xt|Marquette Ave and 2nd Ave}} don't use road abbreviations. There are a couple of times this happens.
- There are no more "Ave" references in the text of the article.
- {{!xt|North-south bicycle traffic in Minneapolis began changing in the late 1990s when proposals to ban bicycles from Nicollet Mall emerged.}} Add comma after 1990s
- {{!xt|Ultimately bike lanes were installed on Marquette and 2nd Avenues in September 1998 and bicycles were banned from Nicollet Mall on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.}} Add a comma after 1998 (CinS)
==Capacity==
- {{!xt|stop light}} should be one word
- {{!xt|Some bus routes were scheduled to travel in general purpose lanes heading south on 2nd Avenue South where buses heading south on the corridor would normally use Marquette Ave}} Tweak to {{xt|Some bus routes were scheduled to travel in general-purpose lanes heading south on Second Avenue South, where buses heading south on the corridor would normally use Marquette Avenue.}}
- {{!xt|When the transportation plan was approved by the city council in 2007 it was estimated}} Because of the length of the prepositional phrase, add a comma after 2007
==Funding==
- Spell out "four"
- {{!xt|The $133 million grant would also fund other transit and roadway improvements like park and ride facilities, and toll lanes along I-35W.}} Remove the comma as there are fewer than three items.
- {{!xt|Several techniques to ensure the accelerated construction timeline was successful were used including}} Add a comma after "used"
- {{!xt|the mall was changed to allow bicycle at all times of day}} missing plural, "bicycles"
- {{!xt|The loss of bike facilities in the corridor concerned groups like the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition which later became the transportation advocacy organization Our Streets Minneapolis.}} Add a comma after Coalition. Commas help readers navigate these longer sentences, and you sometimes need them.
- {{!xt|Metro Transit as well as the six suburban transit authorities including Southwest Transit and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority}} Add a comma after "authorities" and another after "Authority" to make an appositive
==Operations==
- MOS:PERCENT: Use "percent" instead of "%" in all but technical articles.
- Changed throughout section.
- {{!xt|Buses from I-94 West, I-35W North, I-35W South, and I-394 all fed into the Marq2 lanes which made them the busiest transit corridor in downtown Minneapolis.}} Consider linking I-94 and I-394, and add a comma after "lanes"
- {{!xt|The addition of the heated shelters on Marq2 in combination with A Line heated shelters was identified in 2018 as a source of potential disparate impact and disproportionate burden for low-income and minority riders in 2018.}} In 2018, I found a problem in 2018. Can you find it in 2018?
- Removed the second reference to 2018
- {{!xt|This was because Marq2 riders are predominately not low-income or minority while others riders in the Metro Transit system that were more likely to be low-income or minorities did not receive the same level of benefits.}} Some copy errors here. Try... {{xt|This was because Marq2 riders are predominantly not low-income or minority, while other riders in the Metro Transit system—that were more likely to be low-income or minorities—did not receive the same level of benefits.}}
- {{!xt|Southwest Transit officials wrote a letter to the city of Minneapolis requesting improved priority for buses which they felt were not being given priority by traffic control agents.}} Another sentence where a comma, after "buses", helps reading flow a lot.
- "They city" fix
- {{!xt|The Metro Orange Line was designed around using the corridor and during planning stages}} Add comma after "corridor" (CinS)
- {{!xt|where a buses could either travel eastbound using a general purpose lanes to the 12th Street Ramp on the E-ZPass lanes or travel west bound from the 12 Street Ramp to a bus only contraflow lane that connects to Marq2}} A lot of things here. Try this. {{xt|where buses could either travel eastbound using general-purpose lanes to the 12th Street Ramp on the E-ZPass lanes or travel westbound from the ramp to a bus-only contraflow lane connecting to Marq2}}
==Design==
- {{!xt|On Marquette Avenue buses travel southbound while on Second Avenue buses travel northbound, with general traffic operating the other direction in the other lanes.}} Commas really help here, but really this is a poor-flow sentence. {{xt|Buses travel southbound on Marquette Avenue and northbound on Second Avenue, with general traffic operating the opposite direction in the other lanes.}}
- {{!xt|80 feet wide}} use a {{tl|convert}} here
- {{!xt|The trees were held structural cells}} I assume the missing preposition is "in"?
- Yes, that important word was missing.
- {{!xt|The system also helps increase the lifespan of street trees which}} Comma after "trees"
==Stops and stations==
- {{!xt|Gates on Marquette Avenue are lettered A, B, C, and D and gates on Second Avenue are lettered E, F, G, and H.}} Add a comma after "D" (CinS)
- {{!xt|Custom transit shelters were installed at opening and sidewalks on the bus stop side of the street are 3 feet wider than on the other side.}} Add a comma after "opening" (CinS); spell out "three" (and add a convert template)

=Sourcing and spot checks=
- I notice much of the first History paragraph has several sentences in a row without citations. Are these all cited to Diers and Isaacs?
- Yes, I reread the two pages to make sure the information is supported. I duplicated the citation and tried to add them after dates/names/numbers so that it is a little more clear that the citation supports the almost the entire paragraph. -Eóin (talk) 02:13, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Earwig copyvio checker turns up no issues.
Five references were chosen for random spot checks: 4, 10, 12, 34, 36.
- 4: Offline source. Another source was selected instead...
- 27: Can you point me to where this is in the large PDF?
- I found a different url that only includes the reference report (~80 pages) instead of several reports (~450 pages). I've also referenced the 3 pages of the report that support the statement. -Eóin (talk) 02:13, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- 10: Mention of Portland. Assuming RS as a subject matter expert (former facilities manager for Metro Transit). {{tick}}
- 12: Star Tribune article mentions that a federal grant would accelerate work. {{tick}}
- 34: Transit study with concepts for connecting I-35W to Marq2. {{tick}}
- 36: Metro Transit page on 12th Street Ramp describes its purpose. This is good ABOUTSELF. {{tick}}
