I don't know whether the quarry is a going concern or not, but the railroad branch to Rogers City was abandoned about twenty years ago. Mackensen (talk) 01:54, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

See [https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2000/02/22/00-3941/lake-state-railway-company-abandonment-exemption-in-alpena-and-presque-isle-counties-mi] for example from the Surface Transportation Board. ::::::I am south of Alpena. Cross the tracks regularly, since they cross our private road. And they are in use. They do carry limestone,calcite and alabaster, although I cannot attest to the source. The trains shake my house. And they leave rocks in the roadbed.
