km war
What is "km war"? Thanks Littenberg (talk) 23:23, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
:That's exactly what I wanted to know! I'll see if I can find the answer somewhere. 🌳 Balsam Cottonwood (talk) ✝ 23:26, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
::{{re|Littenberg}} It was a typo introduced in [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pacifism_in_Germany&diff=prev&oldid=1159583479 this edit]. I have removed it. DuncanHill (talk) 23:53, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
Potentially Unclear wording in the Contemporary Germany section.
Currently, the article states, "The foreign policy of contemporary Germany has been more pacifist than those of the previous historical eras. This is driven primarily by the history of Germany during the First and Second World Wars, as there was a significant loss of lives as a result of the perception of pacifism by the wider population." Although this already has a clarification needed tag, I thought it might be a good idea to discuss this on the talk page. The second sentence isn't very clear; the way I interpreted it was that change in the perception of pacifism by the general population led to loss of life. Please correct me if I am mistaken, but I do not think that is entirely accurate. Most likely, I think the original writer of this sentence meant to say something along the lines of, "The loss of life experienced during WW1 and WW2 in Germany led to Pacifism becoming more popular." I am still not entirely sure if this gets the correct point across. If anyone has an idea on how to clarify this statement, please discuss, and or edit the article. Pointing out a few issues
- This article mentions "the United States’ declaration of war on Iraq"; however, the article on the Iraq war claims that "At 5:34 am Baghdad time on 20 March 2003[148] (9:34 pm, 19 March EST) the surprise[149] military invasion of Iraq began. There was no declaration of war.[150]". While I must admit that I do not know the full story, it seems logical that one of these must logically be false. Perhaps the author of the text in this article mistook the attack as a "declaration of war" when it was not.
- This article is formatted in a way such that analysis and statements refer forward in the article, to content not having been read by the reader yet. We must assume that the readers primarily start at the beginning. An example of this is: "The government remained lenient towards these with pacifist attitudes – a reaction that comes into great contrast with that of the Nazi Government and others which enacted the concept of total war on the home front."
- The sections seem to lack internal structure.
- Section headings could possibly be improved, for example with regard to removing Germany from the names of some time periods.
- Citation footnotes should go after a much bigger amount of individual sentences.
