Connection of capacitor bank to medium voltage motor

Dear sir_

We need advise for the perfect distance between the motor and capacitor bank for connection , is there any limitation on the distance or we can choose suitable location for the capacitor bank even it will be alittle bit far from the medium voltage motor....THANKS —Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.1.232.117 (talk) 06:14, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Update to HQ Information

{{edit COI|A}}

Hello! I'm a Schneider Electric employee here to make edit requests on behalf of the company. My aim is to strengthen this article with up-to-date, encyclopedic information about what the company does and how it operates. I understand that my COI prevents me from making direct edits to the company article, so I will stay in this Talk section, making suggestions that independent editors may review and implement.

I will start by making what I hope is a simple request. The article's infobox says that Schneider's Headquarters' is in Rueil-Malmaison, France. That's about halfway correct. Schneider doesn't operate with a single HQ. We use what we call a "multi-hub" model, where our leadership and most of our staff work out of several main offices across the globe.{{cite web |date=December 7, 2021 |title=3 ways a multi-hub strategy helps mitigate risks to business continuity |url=https://blog.se.com/power-management-metering-monitoring-power-quality/2021/12/07/3-ways-a-multi-hub-strategy-helps-mitigate-risks-to-business-continuity/ |access-date=November 16, 2022 |website=Schneider Electric}}{{cite news |last=Arakali |first=Harichandan |date=March 9, 2022 |title=Help develop global leaders at your organisation: Schneider Electric |work=Forbes India |url=https://www.forbesindia.com/article/india039s-best-employers-2022/help-develop-global-leaders-at-your-organisation-schneider-electric/74311/1 |access-date=November 16, 2022}} Those main offices are:

{{reflist_talk}}

Would it be reasonable to add those other three locations to the Headquarters field of the infobox? I'm open to discussion on this. My main goal is to avoid communicating to people who might view this article that Schneider's headquarters is strictly in France, because that's not accurate. (In fact, our current CEO is based in Hong Kong.) I would appreciate any help or guidance other editors can give me. Thank you! Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 03:36, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

:{{re|Rachel at Schneider Electric}} I think that might come down to whether the template for the company infobox is capable of displaying multiple locations. As far as I can see, it's only set up to show a single one. While it might be possible to rig it to show multiples (by essentially overloading the parameter with a list rather than one location), there may also be a consensus in place to just not do that in infoboxes. I'll pop a question at the editing help page. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 13:09, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

:Hello @Rachel at Schneider Electric, those appear to be regional headquarters. Only the Rueil-Malmaison HQ is listed in the company's current [https://www.se.com/ww/en/assets/564/document/319364/2021-universal-registration-document.pdf annual report] (see the last page). Best, Ptrnext (talk) 05:23, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

::So, it turns out that one can cheat the box into displying multiple headquartes by feeding a list, but I have to agree with {{u|Ptrnext}} - the documentation does indicate that the headquarters of the incorpotated business are in France, and the linked sources do not show otherwise. I would suggest just detailing the international structure in the "Head Office" section. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 08:14, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

:::User:Elmidae and User:Ptrnext, thank you for your thoughtful feedback, and for looking into the formatting issue. At Elmidae's suggestion, I have drafted a couple new lines for the Head office section:

:::Does that look right? I think that's a pretty accurate summary of what the sourcing says, but I'm open to modifying the copy as either of you see fit. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks again! Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 06:15, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

::::Seems accurate to me! I have implemented it as above. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 07:53, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

:::::Hey, User:Elmidae! It just came to my attention that this section still isn't completely accurate. The sentence that reads This headquarters previously housed Schneider subsidiary Télémécanique while the parent company occupied a site in Boulogne-Billancourt is incorrect. Télémécanique never had its HQ in Rueil-Malmaison, and Schneider didn't occupy a site in Boulogne-Billancourt. I'm not sure where the Télémécanique bit comes from, but I think whoever added the Boulogne-Billancourt part got confused about [https://www.se.com/fr/fr/about-us/newsroom/news/press-releases/schneider-electric-digitalisera-l%E2%80%99%C3%A9nergie-du-nouveau-si%C3%A8ge-de-bnp-paribas-real-estate-%C3%A0-boulogne-billancourt-6007eb87f6fad4473448c23e%7C work Schneider did] on BNP Paribas Real Estate's headquarters.

:::::I see that the sourcing on those two claims are, respectively, a page on Schneider's site and a job site called Ladders. Neither of those pages substantiate the claims. Could that sentence be removed? Let me know what you think. Thanks! ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 01:59, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Updating History Section

{{edit COI|answered=yes}}

Hello again! I'm back to propose some updates  to the History section. I've written a full section draft and uploaded it to my user page. It's available here. Editors can read through and judge the merits of specific changes, but what I'm basically trying to accomplish is:

  • Improving the sourcing on existing History section content, and removing whatever can't be backed up by a good source
  • Fixing the tone of the section, so that it's less promotional-sounding
  • Reorganizing the Timeline since 1999 subsection, so that it's written in prose

I'll ask User:Ptrnext and User:Elmidae to review, since they were quite helpful with my last request. If neither of them are interested, or if somebody else wants to jump in and take a look before they do, that's fine as well. Thanks so much! ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 05:03, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

:Hi Rachel, I like the looks of this. Compact and in prose is definitely a desirable combination, and I thank you for removing a few of the more promotional-sounding items. I'd say this is a definite improvement over the current section. If no one objects, I would move it over next week. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 12:53, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

::Appreciate it, User:Elmidae! I also just asked about a correction to the Head office section. You can see that post above. If you need any further input from me, on that request or this one, I'm here to help. Thanks again! ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 01:59, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

:::{{re|Rachel at Schneider Electric}} inserted your rewrite. Note that there were two references to deprecated sources in there - i.e., sources that are generally considered unreliable or excessively biased, and should not be used on Wikipedia: Statista and the Mises Institute. I think they were already present before but hadn't been caught. I have removed these and marked the relevant statements with {{tl|citation needed}}. Please check if there are alternative sources to use in these cases. I suppose the founder info may also be in one of the books cited, and the financial stats could maybe sourced directly to Schneider? Otherwise the statements ought to be removed.

:::Re the Télémécanique issue, beats me - that link to the Ladder site seems pretty pointless... I have removed the sentence. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 09:29, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

::::That's terrific, User:Elmidae. I appreciate the work you've put in, going through this stuff with a fine-toothed comb. I tracked down a source for that claim about the foundry purchase. It's an old Fortune magazine piece from 1934, which has subsequently been republished by the Harvard Crimson. [https://www.thecrimson.com/article/1934/5/18/arms-and-the-men-pbut-the/ Here's a link]. The relevant passage:

::::: The founder of [the Schneider] dynasty was his grandfather, also named Eugene, who, with a brother Adolph, left Bidestroff in the then [German] territory of the Saar and came to France in 1836. More particularly Brothers Eugene and Adolph came to Le [Creusot] (literally "The Hollow" or "The Crucible") where to the south of the Burgundy wine district a small foundry had been making cannon from the days of Louis XVI. With perfect impartiality it had supplied first the monarchy, then the republic, and then Napoleon's Empire with its products, bought the foundry (La Societe Generale des Hauts Feurneaux) for 2,500,000 francs--and were then forced to wait for almost twenty years for their first major war.

::::Would that be an acceptable source? I think it's solid, but you would know better than I do. Thanks! ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 05:27, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

:::::Looks good to me. Added. Not quite sure how to format a cite for an old magazine article reprinted on an unknown date by a website, but the current form should do... --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 14:44, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

::::::Appreciate the help, User: Elmidae! Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 02:04, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

Update to Infobox Figures

{{edit COI|answered=yes}}

Hello! I'm back with what I hope will be an easy edit request. The company recently released its financial figures for 2022, so I was wondering if it might be possible to add them to the infobox. They are as follows:

  • Revenue: {{increase}}34.17 billion{{cite web |title=Annual Financial Report for the Year Ended December 31, 2022 |url=https://www.se.com/ww/en/assets/564/document/379351/accounts-fy-results-2022.pdf |access-date=February 23, 2023 |website=Schneider Electric}} (2022)
  • Operating income: {{increase}}4.93 billion (2022)
  • Net income: {{increase}}3.53 billion (2022)
  • Total assets: {{increase}}58.36 billion (2022)
  • Total equity: {{decrease}}26.09 billion (2022)
  • Number of employees: 162,339 (2022)

Updating Acquisitions and divestments table

{{edit COI|answered=yes}}

Hello again! I'm now looking to update the Acquisitions and divestments table, which in its current state is a bit of a mess. I've uploaded a revised version of it to my user page, which seeks to solve a few problems:

  • The table has too many minor transactions —> reduced the number of items from 55 to 36
  • It relies too heavily on primary sources —> added secondary sourcing to back up each transaction
  • The chronology is slightly inconsistent —> standardized the way dates are arranged, with month-year dates appearing before year-only ones

For the sake of creating a more coherent section, my version of the table also strips out a couple of divestments, so that it's made up only of acquisitions. Due to this change, I've proposed retitling it Notable acquisitions.

If editors could review my work here and either approve the changes or let me know what I should improve, I would deeply appreciate it. Thanks! ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 07:07, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

:Hi Rachel, done. I appreciate your efforts to condense these data! I'm not checking every entry, but no unsuitable sources stand out. Note that the re-ordering is a default that may be overturned if the user sorts by date, but that's their own lookout :) --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 08:22, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

::Thank you, User:Elmidae! And I didn't know that detail about how tables work on this site. Appreciate the insight. ~~~~ Rachel at Schneider Electric (talk) 05:44, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Update to key people

{{edit COI|G}}

Hello! My colleague has made requests here before but I may help with requests from time-to-time. Like her, I am a Schneider Electric employee here on behalf of the company and I will use this Talk page and not make edits.

I have a small request for an update to the article's infobox. Some time ago, an editor updated the infobox to note that Peter Herweck is now CEO and Jean-Pascal Tricoire was removed. Would it be possible to add Jean-Pascal Tricoire back as Chairman? Although he has stepped down as CEO he will remain Chairman until 2025.{{cite news|last=White |first=Sarah |url=https://www.ft.com/content/b691982f-df5d-4f58-9ad0-44e84c135255 |title=Schneider Electric boss to step down after two decades|date=February 16, 2023 |work=Financial Times |access-date=June 26, 2023}} (See also the [https://www.se.com/ww/en/about-us/newsroom/experts/details/jean-pascal-tricoire-5d80d6051416ef117f1128bc company website].)

Financial updates

{{re|Makeideas}} there is very little value in updating a single number on the page to 2023, as there are currently half a dozen values reported that use 2022 numbers. Switching out a single one will only cause confusion. If you do want to update, please see to all the relevant instances - you can find them by searching for the reference anchor "SE22Financials" in the text; they seem to be mostly in the infobox at the top of the page. Then replace the content of the relevant citation (currently:

{{cite web |title=Annual Financial Report for the Year Ended December 31, 2022 |url=https://www.se.com/ww/en/assets/564/document/379351/accounts-fy-results-2022.pdf |access-date=February 23, 2023 |website=Schneider Electric}}

Minor change in last edit by @Futurebassbass

Hi @Futurebassbass,

Thanks a lot for your contribution to this article. Would it be ok for you to do a small change in the content you've added? It's just to modify the verb from "In 2000, Schneider Electric has bought the French controls-maker Crouzet Automatismes" to "In 2000, Schneider Electric acquired the French controls-maker Crouzet Automatismes". The reason for this request is to keep a consistent use of verb tenses through the full article.

Thanks! Beatriz at Schneider Electric (talk) 10:06, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Predecessor

Why does the infobox state 'predecessor' as Merlin-Gerin? According to the history Merlin-Gerin was acquired in 1992 and is listed as a subsidiary. MG wasn't even founded until 84 years after SE.

I'll presume it's just wrong and delete it. Feel free to reinstate it if I'm somehow wrong. DiscreetParrot (talk) 00:14, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

:Err, so editing that seems to involve having to deal with some complicated 'wikidata' interface. I don't know what I'm doing there so I'll abandon that plan for now. DiscreetParrot (talk) 00:21, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
