Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I will use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the
{{tq|Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.}}

=Links=
- There are two links in the infobox, per WP:INFOBOXCITE could these be in prose? The one about the age is particularly bad as there are already cites about the age in prose. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:33, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Moved the "turned pro" one to the prose. The one for the age is really just for the whole infobox. There's no obvious place to put it. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Refs look good Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:33, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

==Lede==
- . In total, she has been No. 1 for 64 weeks - could we link the whole of "No. 1 for 64 weeks"? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:38, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Done. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Ref in lede should be moved to prose. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:38, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Done. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Otherwise, lede is very good. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:38, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks! Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:42, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
==Main prose==
- Should probably mention Constanța is in Romania. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Done. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Halep is a former world No. 1 junior.{{cn}} Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Added. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- The Junior section comments on "grade", should probably be explained. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Added note. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- First mention of "Grand Slam" should be linked. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Linked first mentions in junior section and pro section. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- career playing low-level $10K ITF Women's Circuit events in Romania in 2006 and 2007. - was the $10k part of the event title? Prize money seems like a weird thing for prose in this way. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sort of. The $10K is the event tier. The WTA does use 125K as an official tier name for their $125,000 tournaments. The tiers with lower prize money don't have an official name, but they are still typically referred to by the prize money. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- she defeated No. 96 - presumably world number 96? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Added an "abbr" to the first instance (this instance) Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- There's a lot of this in the article, I'm not sure no. # is a suitible alternative for what we are discussing. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- For tennis, it is standard practice to write "world number (ranking)" as "world No. (ranking)" or just "No. (ranking)", both on Wikipedia and in the press. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- 2013: Breakthrough, six WTA titles, world No. 11 - even if we kept this, we are in sentence case No should be lower case. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- In this format, "No." is always capitalized. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Could we get some alt text for the images. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Added. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- "With these two runner-ups, Halep moved up to No. 3" - MOS:NUM says we should use the word "three" instead of 3, etc. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- With this format, the number is never written out. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- , they only won one tie.[140][141][142][143] - beware of WP:REFBOMB, maybe remove a ref or two. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- I moved three of these to the middle of the sentence so the usage is more clear. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Halep has described herself as an aggressive baseliner. - perhaps explain what a baseliner is. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Added a link to the appropriate page. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:41, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
The rest of the article looks very good, and well made/sourced. I will have to find out what the deal is with articles under pending changes reviews, as I've never come across one before. Placing on hold. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:19, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
: Thanks for the review, {{u|Lee Vilenski}}! I addressed everything above. The "world No. X" is a standard tennis format for writing out "world number xxxx". The pending changes thing is just a type of page protection (from many years ago; we probably don't need it any more). Sportsfan77777 (talk) 19:56, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
::I'd just suggest either a note or a bracket commenting what No. # means. It should also be "no" in lowercase. Other than that, we're good to go. I have requested the removal of pending changes as it doesn't suit the article. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:20, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
:::I added a note in this format: "{{abbr|No.|world number}}" where it says "{{abbr|No.|world number}} 96 Angelique Kerber". I could add a few more of these, but I don't want to do it everywhere. The capitalization is correct (see for instance [https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/26375557/no-1-goal-simona-halep-poised-reclaim-throne this article] or virtually any other tennis article). Thanks for removing the protection. Sportsfan77777 (talk) 06:59, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
:::::No worries. In that case, all seems fine for passing. Good job. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:31, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
