;Establishment of Spartan hegemony over the Peloponnese

;Persian and Peloponnesian Wars

  • "King Croesus of Lydia established an alliance with them,[11] and later, the Greek cities of Asia Minor appealed to her for help in the Ionian Revolt." Is confusing. Who is them? Who is her?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:20, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
  • "Sparta suffered several reverses during these wars," - What is a reverse?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:20, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

;Tactics

  • "Like the other Greek states, the Spartan army was..." is ungrammatical. S/b "Like that of any other Greek state, the Spartan army was..." or "Like the Army of any other Greek state, the Spartan army was..."--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:46, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
  • 2nd paragraph is uncited.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:46, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

;On the march

  • "The only people who could have a gravestone were woman who died in child birth and warriors who died in battle; both were considered lives given for the state." needs a citation.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:46, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

;Clothing, arms and armor

  • "It is often disputed which torso armor the Spartans wore during the Persian Wars," should have a citation or two.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 01:02, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

;Philosophy, education and the Spartan code

;Spartan Navy

  • Final paragraph needs some citations.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:53, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • especially "admirals were subordinated to the vice-admiral".--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:53, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
  • "This position is seemingly..." is ambiguous. It seems to refer to epistoleus and later in the sentence is shown to refer to admiral. However, in the preceding sentence epistoleus seems to refer to vice admiral.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:53, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

  • The licensing is very spotty. Most of the sculptural content will need to be tagged {{tl|PD-old-100}} or something similar to clarify the author's copyright is not being violated. Most are just tagged to indicate that the photographer's copyright is being waved. There should be a clear presentation that shows something like the following:

Photographer

{{PD-self}}

Artist

{{PD-old-100}}

Note that {{tl|PD-old-100}} on WP and {{tlxc|PD-old-100}} on commons differ in the age indicated (100 vs. 70 years)

The following are works for which licensing needs to be remedied in the manner noted above.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:57, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

The following works need to move clearly state that an artist has released their copyrights. It is not clear if the person releasing the copyright is the artist or a photographer of the work.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:57, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

The following work seems to need a photographer's copyright. The sculpture is government work, but is this a government photograph of the work?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:57, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

The following work seems to need a photographer's copyright. The artwork is PD, but who is the photographer?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:57, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

  • This is very close to the borderline of what I would fail and what I would put on hold. I will put this on hold for 7 days and see how things look.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:51, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
