The Teluk Langsa-class tank landing ship was a class of tank landing ships which were operated by the United States Navy during World War II but were later transferred and sold to the Indonesian Navy in the 1960s and 1970s.

Design

{{Main|Landing Ship, Tank}}

The ships were all differently built on subclasses which were the {{sclass|LST-1|tank landing ship|5}} and {{sclass|LST-542|tank landing ship|5}}. Additionally, {{KRI|Teluk Amboina||2}} was a copy of the LST-542 variant built by Sasebo Heavy Industries after World War II.{{Cite web|title=..:: TNI ANGKATAN LAUT ::..|url=https://www.tnial.mil.id/berita/2943/PRAJURIT-PENJELAJAH-SAMUDERA-MEMPERINGATI-59-TAHUN-PENGABDIAN-KRI-TELUK-AMBOINA-503/|access-date=2021-08-19|website=www.tnial.mil.id}} There are ten ships in this class. {{KRI|Jaya Wijaya||2}} was the half sister to these ships as she was converted to an {{sclass|Achelous|repair ship}}.

Vessels of the class have a length of {{convert|328|ft|m|abbr=on}}, a beam of {{convert|50|ft|m|abbr=on}}, and a draft from {{convert|2|ft|m|abbr=on}} to {{Convert|14|ft|m}}. Their displacement is {{convert|4,080|LT|t|abbr=on|lk=in}} at full load. The ships are powered by two diesel engines with two shafts. The Teluk Langsa class has a speed of {{convert|12|kn|km/h}}.{{Cite web|title=Design|url=https://www.insidelst.com/design.htm|access-date=2021-08-19|website=www.insidelst.com}}

The Teluk Langsa class has a capacity of 163 troops, {{convert|1900|LT|t|abbr=on|lk=in}} of cargo, and two LCVPs on davits. The ships have a complement of 104 personnel, including 7 officers.

In 1980, it was stated that Teluk Amboina received an upgrade in weaponry, namely the installation of six Bofors 40/60 MK3 guns. As a landing ship, Teluk Amboina is equipped with four units of LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) and 20 medium tanks.{{Cite web|date=2019-06-02|title=KRI Teluk Amboina 503: Dibeli dari Jepang, Inilah Landing Ship Tank 'Retro' Perang Dunia II|url=https://www.indomiliter.com/kri-teluk-amboina-503-dibeli-dari-jepang-inilah-landing-ship-tank-retro-perang-dunia-ii/|access-date=2021-08-19|website=Indomiliter.com|language=en-US}}
