Background

Tenebrae Vision was accompanied by two singles, Nothing Stays and Temper, both of which were released in 1990 and contain different mixes of the title tracks as well as non-album tracks.{{cite web |url=http://cherryberry321.wordpress.com/discography_2/wax_9119_cyberaktif/ |title=WAX 9119 – Cyberaktif – Nothing Stays |author=brandtgassman |work=Wax Trax! family website |date=February 11, 2011 |access-date=August 19, 2014}}{{cite web |url=http://cherryberry321.wordpress.com/discography_2/wax_9117_cyberaktif/ |title=WAX 9117 – Cyberaktif – Temper |author=brandtgassman |work=Wax Trax! family website |date=February 15, 2011 |access-date=August 19, 2014}}

The track "Nothing Stays" was voted the sixteenth-greatest industrial song of all time by COMA Music Magazine in their feature article 101 Greatest Industrial Songs of All Time.{{cite web |url=http://coma-online.com/feature-101-greatest-industrial-songs-of-all-time-20-2/ |title=101 Greatest Industrial Songs of All Time |last=Schock |first=David | publisher=COMA |date=March 9, 2012 |access-date=August 19, 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150121173244/http://coma-online.com/feature-101-greatest-industrial-songs-of-all-time-20-2/ |archive-date=2015-01-21}} It appeared also in different versions on various compilation albums.{{cite web |url=http://cyberaktif.tripod.com/discography.htm |title=Cyberaktif Discography |work=Private Cyberaktif website |access-date=August 19, 2014}}

According to cEvin Key, Cyberaktif is reminiscent of tape trading in the industrial music scene which the band members started off with. "Cyberaktif is [...] the experience of discovering the whole electronic genre", said Key, "[it] is exploring the enthusiasm we once had for that genre." Bill Leeb described their work as "rehashing old things", but said, "it was different this time because we were a bit more established."{{cite web |url=http://www.chaoscontrol.com/front-line-assembly-3/ |title=Front Line Assembly |work=Chaos Control |date=1993 |access-date=August 19, 2014 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120409144414/https://www.chaoscontrol.com/front-line-assembly-3/ |archive-date=April 9, 2012}} About the collaboration with Blixa Bargeld, Leeb reported that he and Key were fans of Einstürzende Neubauten and Bargeld happened to be in Vancouver just at the right time.{{cite web |url=http://www.releasemagazine.net/bill-leeb-goes-full-circle/ |title=Front Line Assembly and Bill Leeb go full circle |last=Carlsson |first=Johan |work=Release |date=July 18, 2013 |access-date=August 19, 2014}} With Bargeld being "an icon to us" and having "major attitude back then", Leeb remembered the collaboration being both "stressful" and "fun".

Tenebrae Vision features samples from the films The Unholy, Videodrome, Dune, and Halloween III: Season of the Witch.{{cite web |url=http://cyberaktif.tripod.com/samples.htm |title=Cyberaktif Samples |work=Private Cyberaktif website |access-date=August 19, 2014}}
