Critical reception

The Province wrote that the band "rocks ridiculously hard."{{cite news |last1=Derdeyn |first1=Stuart |title=Grab your dancing shoes |work=The Province |date=1 July 1999 |page=B5}} The Detroit News called the album "a 16-track slab of the yowling, ballistic, tag-team R&B."{{cite news |last1=Case |first1=Wendy |title=Beat Girl: Spring has sprung -- and so have a bevy of CD releases |work=The Detroit News |date=April 30, 1999 |page=1D}} Exclaim! thought that "T. Jackson Potter’s tight, frenzied guitar playing and yelping vocals drive the album along and it’s on winners like 'Safe Cracker', 'Tom Skinner' and 'Outta My Mind' that he really lets loose." Westword deemed it "a downright wicked collection of shifty, soulful garage-blues freakouts."{{cite web |title=Something to Crow About |url=https://www.westword.com/music/something-to-crow-about-5060012 |website=Westword |access-date=8 July 2021}}
