"10 Years of Service" was the album's only single; the music video received some minor airplay on MTV's 120 Minutes, a first for the band.

The album was produced by Rancid's Lars Frederiksen, who had produced their debut album as well. It was the final Dropkick Murphys album to be produced by Frederiksen.{{cite web |title=THE GANG'S ALL HERE -- DROPKICK MURPHYS |url=https://www.courant.com/news/connecticut/hc-xpm-1999-03-18-9904020816-story.html |website=Hartford Courant |access-date=20 July 2021}}

CMJ New Music Report wrote that "Barr's gravelly voice complements '77-style punk riffs that fly by faster than a speeding bullet."{{Cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=J-Pim7dBEHEC&pg=PA22|title=Reviews|work=CMJ New Music Report|date=March 22, 1999|publisher=CMJ Network, Inc.|via=Google Books}} Rolling Stone thought that "the four band members pummel through their anthems like punked-out Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots."{{cite magazine |last1=Chonin |first1=Neva |title=The Gang's All Here |magazine=Rolling Stone |date=Apr 1, 1999 |issue=809 |pages=96–97}}

AllMusic wrote that while the album "[took] up the expected us-against-the-world pose," its songwriting was of a higher standard than contemporary punk albums.
