Background

The trio formed Boone, North Carolina during 1979, by the father of the Greene children, Everette Ralph Greene, with his three children, the eldest brother, Timothy Everette "Tim" Greene,{{cite web |author=Broadcast Music, Inc. |title=Songwriter/Composer: Timothy Everette Greene |url=http://repertoire.bmi.com/writer.asp?blnWriter=True&blnPublisher=True&blnArtist=True&page=1&fromrow=1&torow=25&querytype=WriterID&keyid=137707&keyname=GREENE+TIMOTHY+EVERETTE&CAE=202145821&Affiliation=BMI&term= |publisher=Broadcast Music, Inc. |accessdate=August 11, 2016 |author-link=Broadcast Music, Inc }} the middle sister, Kimberly Ellen Greene,{{cite web |author=Heartland |title=Kim Hopper |url=http://www.oocities.org/heartland/cabin/1153/kim.html |publisher=Heartland |accessdate=August 11, 2016 }} and their youngest brother, Anthony Elden "Tony" Greene. Their father played the piano as the group toured, playing at churches and other venues. Their sister would wed Claude Dean Hopper of The Hoppers, and would leave the trio 1988. After this time, the two brothers found Amy Lambert and Milena Parks to fill the soprano role in their group at various times. Until 1997, TaRanda Kiser joined the group fresh out of high school, after a successful audition. The group lost their founder, Everette Ralph Greene, in 2004.{{cite web |author=Greene family |title=Everette Ralph Greene Obituary |url=http://www.hamptonfuneralnc.com/home/index.cfm/obituaries/view/fh_id/10201/id/11474 |publisher=Hampton Funeral Home |accessdate=August 11, 2016}} The younger brother, Tony Greene, died in 2010 of pneumonia,{{cite web |author=Greene family |title=Anthony Elden "Tony" Greene Obituary |url=http://www.hamptonfuneralnc.com/home/index.cfm?action=public%3Aobituaries.view&o_id=713250&fh_id=10201 |publisher=Hampton Funeral Home |accessdate=August 11, 2016}} who was the husband of TaRanda Greene, having wed in February 2001. Soon thereafter, TaRanda left the group to start her full-time solo music ministry, and she is now with Cana's Voice.
