Reception

Lisa Nesselson of Variety assessed that the film "boasts a crisp sense of observation in the service of a story many will judge aimless".{{Cite web|url=https://variety.com/2003/film/markets-festivals/the-hours-of-the-day-1200541567/|website=Variety|first=Lisa|last=Nesselson|title=The Hours of the Day|date=19 May 2003}}

Nuria Vidal of Fotogramas rated the film 4 out of 5 stars, considering that instead of "good" and "bad" characters, intrigue or investigation or psychology and explanations, "there is a good dose of pure cinema" within.{{cite web|url=https://www.fotogramas.es/peliculas-criticas/a7241/las-horas-del-dia/|website=Fotogramas|date=29 May 2008|first=Nuria|last=Vidal|title=Las horas del día}}
