Thiophosphoryl iodide is an inorganic compound with the formula {{chem2|PSI3|auto=1}}.{{Greenwood&Earnshaw2nd|pages=501–503}}
Preparation
Thiophosphoryl iodide can be prepared by reacting phosphorus triiodide with sulfur in carbon disulfide at 10–15 °C in the dark for several days.{{cite book | title = The Chemistry of Phosphorus | series = Permanon Texts in Inorganic Chemistry | volume = 3 | author = Arthur D. Attempts to synthesise {{chem2|PSI3}} by the reaction of lithium iodide with thiophosphoryl bromide lead to the mixed thiophosphoryl halides {{chem2|PSBr2I}} and {{chem2|PSBrI2}} instead.{{cite journal | title = The identification of some new thiophosphoryl compounds containing P–I bonds by means of 31P N.M.R. spectroscopy | first1 = K.
