The Timor rat (Rattus timorensis) is a species of rodent in the family Muridae found in Indonesian West Timor,{{MSW3 Muroidea | id = 13001787 | pages = 1491-1492}} where it lives in the teak forests.{{cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=gVpGAwAAQBAJ&pg=PT32 |page=32 |title=Rat: How the World's Most Notorious Rodent Clawed Its Way to the Top |first=Jerry |last=Langton |publisher=St. Martin's Publishing Group |year=2014 |isbn=9781466872028}} It is known from a specimen collected near the summit of Mount Mutis.
