The University of the Philippines Cineastes' Studio, commonly known as UP Cineastes' Studio or UP Cineastes, is a student film organization based at the UP Film Institute, University of the Philippines Diliman.[https://filminstitute.upd.edu.ph/student-organizations/ UP Cineastes as a recognized Organization by the UPFI] The organization acquired its name from the film term cineaste, which originated from the combination of the French words cinematography and enthusiaste in the 20th century.
Membership in UP Cineastes' Studio is open to students of the University of the Philippines Diliman.
History
U.P. Initially formed for film students at the University of the Philippines Diliman, it later expanded to include students from other colleges.
Over the past decade, UP Cineastes' Studio has promoted Filipino Independent Cinema to the student community.
