'''Historicity of Rama'''

Rama was the prince of Ayodhya, his horoscope is given in various Hindu religious texts, such as the Valmiki's Ramayan and Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas, which provide detailed planetary positions in the Zodiac at the time of his birth.

=[[Natal chart]] of Rama=

{{cquote| “On completion of the ritual six seasons have passed by and then in the twelfth month, on the ninth day of Chaitra month [April-May,] when the presiding deity of ruling star of the day is Aditi, where the ruling star of day is Punarvasu (Nakshatra), the asterism is in the ascendant, and when five of the nine planets viz., Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus are at their highest position, when Jupiter with Moon is ascendant in Cancer, and when day is advancing, then Queen Kausalya gave birth to a son with all the divine attributes like lotus-red eyes, lengthy arms, roseate lips, voice like drumbeat, and who took birth to delight the Ikshwaku dynasty, who is adored by all the worlds, and who is the greatly blessed epitome of Vishnu, namely Rama.”

Birth date of Rama

Using the archaeoastronomy , which combines astronomical with archaeological data, and its software used to predict planetary movements and configurations, the birth date of Rama has been calculated as 12.30 p.m. on January 10, 5114 BCE [http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?msid=273107 'Lord Ram was born in 5114 BC' ] Times of India, Nov 3, 2003.[http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/nov/20inter.htm 'Ram was 39 years old when he killed Ravana'] Rediff.com, November 20, 2007.[http://www.bharathgyan.com/hrama.htm Historical Rama] BharatGyan, Chennai.[http://kashmirwatch.com/showexclusives.php?subaction=showfull&id=1196859203&archive=&start_from=&ucat=15&var1news=value1news a Chennai-based NGO..] Kashmir Watch.[http://www.tribuneindia.com/2003/20031012/spectrum/main6.htm A real life hero, not figment of a poet’s imagination] The Tribune, October 12, 2003.

Historicity of Rama controversy

Though the debate has been rejected in the past, by many as an uprising of Hindu nationalists [http://books.google.com/books?id=BC7SgGZCkzsC&pg=PA57&dq=Evidence+of+Rama&sig=ACfU3U3S6YumaMZFKVCQ2TyPhVbKajqzJQ#PPA57,M1 The Authority of Hindu epics] Religion and the Authority of the Past, by Tobin Siebers. University of Michigan Press, 1993. {{ISBN|0472082590}}. page 57., many in the wake of recent Ram Setu controversy, began questioning the said necessity to look for physical proofs for the validity of revered historical figures like Rama, Jesus or Mohammed [http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-2361146,prtpage-1.cms Strengthening sinews] Right View, Times of India , Sept 12, 2007. “Do we need birth certificates to prove Ram, Krishna, Nanak, Jesus and Muhammad?”. This is similar to proposed Aryan invasion theory by modern historians and refuted by others like David Frawley, who support the Out of India theory [http://www.hindunet.org/hindu_history/ancient/aryan/aryan_link.html Aryan Invasion Theory] hindunet.org .
