Rama was the prince of Ayodhya, his horoscope is given in various Hindu religious texts, such as the Valmiki's Ramayan and Ramcharitmanas of Tulsidas, which provide detailed planetary positions in the Zodiac at the time of his birth.

Valmiki states the Lord Rama was born on Chaitra Shuddha Navami of Shukla Paksha (9th day after New Moon), on Punarvasu Nakshatra and five plants were exalted then, further:

• Sun in Mesha (Aries) upto 10 deg.
• Mars in Capricorn at 28 deg.
• Jupiter in Cancer at 5 deg.
• Venus in Pisces at 27 deg.
• Saturn in Libra at 20 deg.
• Mars in Capricorn
• Moon near Punarvasu Nakshatra - Pollux star in Gemini (constellation).

(Bala Kanda.18/Shloka 8,9). Further Ayodhya Kand, Verse 4/18 states that Sun, Mars and Rahu were at Dasharatha's nakshatra. It was the month of Chaitra, which means that the Sun was in Revati, Ashwini or Bharani, also Rahu and Ketu was in any one of these nakshatra, as they are diagonally opposite.
