Shoulder made her debut for Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) on the September 27, 2009 at the OVW Fall Brawl event, under the ring name Taryn Shay', where she teamed up with Epiphany in a losing effort. C.J. Lane and Baliey Parker in a tag-team match. Shay made her televison debut on the October 7 edition of OVW episode 531, Shay teamed up with Epiphany and Eye Candy Ali against Parker, Lane and Kamikaze Kid in a 6-person mixed-tag-team match, in a winning effort. Shay made her singles debut on the November 4 edition of OVW episode 535, Shay challenged Hannah Blossom for OVW Women's Championship, but was unsuccesful in capturing the title.

Shay began a fued with CJ Lane after losing to her in a singles match. Shay's feud with Lane lead to the best of three series matches with the two have a one victory. On the January 6 edition of OVW episode 544, Shay teamed up with Epiphany to defeat Lane and Josie. When the stipulation that the winner of the best of three series would become the number one contender to the OVW Women's Championship was added, Shay defeated Lane via submission in the finals. On the January 30 editon of OVW Surviving the Steel pay-per-view, Shay defeated Lane and Epiphany in a triple-treat steel cage match after forcing Epiphany to submit. Shay would receive her title match on the Febuary 3 edition of OVW episode 548, where she unsuccessfully challenged Josie for the OVW Women's Championship after the match would end in a disqualification when Shay would knock Josie into Epiphany who was the special referee of the match. After the match, Epipahny would try to give the title to Shay but Josie and Epiphany would get to brawl.

At the OVW Retribution pay-per-view, Shay teamed up with Epiphany and Lane in a losing effort to Joise and The Blossom Twins. On the March 3 edition of OVW episode 552, Shay teamed up with Epiphany in a losing effort to The Blossom Twins in a tag-team match. On the March 17 edition of OVW 554, Shay teamed up with Lane against Holly Blossom and Josie, in a winning effort. On the March 24 edition of OVW episode 555, Shay competed against Holly Blossom, in a losing effort. On the April 7 edition of OVW episode 557, Shay teamed up with Epiphany and Lane to defeat the Blossom Twins in a handicap match. For weeks, Shay teamed up with Paredyse against various opponent defeating them in mixed-tag-team match. At the OVW Trial by Fire pay-per view, Epiphany wasn't medical cleared to wrestle forfeiting her title shot with Lane to Taryn, who went on to defeat Lane to win the OVW Women's Championship for the first time. On the September 8 edition of OVW episode 578, Shay dropped the title to Lady JoJo ending her reign at 35 days.

On the March 19 edition of OVW episode 604, Shay accompied JoJo to the ring where she successfully defended her title against C.J. Lane. After Shay and JoJo began to start falling out after losing the Women's title, Shay would begin a relationship with Benny Brah. The women of OVW, also began fighting for his affection leading to Shay accusing the women's locker room of trying to steal "her" man.
