That's right suckers, I wrote an article about "The Thanksgiving Song".
Background
Amidst national lockdown enforcement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of Ben Rector's touring schedule for The Old Friends Acoustic Tour was cancelled and Rector was forced to stay at home. With an open schedule Rector found the free time liberating; although his next album had been recorded and ready, he rewrote most of it from scratch during quarantine.
Being a fan of the Christmas season, he also saw the free schedule as an opportunity to release a Christmas album.

Judd praised "Sailboat" for its escapism and Chelsea Gammon of The MBU Timeline appreciated it for it's honesty. Judd also lauded Rector's songwriting ability in the songs "Making Money" and "I Like You". HuffPost{{'}}s John Chattman declared the album a "smash".{{Cite web |url=https://www.huffpost.com/entry/a-sides-with-jon-chattman_b_3829863 |title=A-Sides with Jon Chattman: Ben Rector "Keeps Moving On" Up; "Life" Lessons with Little Comets |date=2013-08-28 |access-date=2024-01-26 |website=HuffPost |last=Chattman |first=Jon}} Critics overall appreciated the album's compelling simplicity; Judd referred to the album as a "Sunday afternoon record", Gammon called the album "passionately calm and vividly expressive", and Jenkins particularly appreciated the anthemic "When I'm With You" and "Ordinary Love".
