Peter Dowling
Peter Brian Dowling (born 21 January 1965, London) is a publisher, editor and writer who is currently Managing Director of publishing services company [http://www.oratiamedia.com/index.html Oratia Media] and its Libro International books imprint. A former publishing manager of Reed Publishing (NZ), where he worked from 1997 to 2007, Peter was previously Chief Editor at Kozo System in Tokyo, and gained his early publishing experience in the UK and Europe.
Dowling has an M.A. (Hons) degree in English from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, and an M.B.A. from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. He has published a number of best-selling and Montana Book Awards book award-winning books, and received the 2006 [http://www.booksellers.co.nz/directory/thorpe-bowker Thorpe-Bowker] Publisher of the Year Award at Reed Books. He also writes on toponymy, business and travel. He is revising editor of [http://www.penguin.co.nz/afa.asp?idWebPage=30233&ID=1998784&SID=303186213 Place Names of New Zealand], the largest reference work to the origin and meanings of New Zealand place names, first edited by the late A.W. Reed and in its latest edition in 2010. Previous publications included Japan’s Big Bang (1998) and British Rock (1996).
He is Special Correspondent, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, for [http://www.moodiereport.com/ The Moodie Report], and has published articles and columns worldwide in magazines and newspapers including The Times and [http://www.frontiermagazine.co.uk/ Frontier] (UK), Christian Science Monitor and Market:Asia-Pacific (US), The Japan Times, Asahi Shinbun and New Zealand Herald and The Press (New Zealand).
