My talk page as a wiki page (link for mobile beta)

I'm Mark A. Mandel, until November 2013 a research administrator at the [http://ldc.upenn.edu Linguistic Data Consortium] of the University of Pennsylvania, now retired. I sometimes style myself

:{{anchor| Whom }}Dr. Whom, Consulting Linguist, Grammarian, Orthoëpist, and Philological Busybody

I am still interested in languages, as well as folk music, filk music, science fiction, and other things. Including my cat.

I wrote my dissertation on American Sign Language (Ph.D. in Linguistics, University of California at Berkeley), and I've studied lots more languages to a greater or lesser degree. {{anchor|lingvoj}}Languages I've worked with in recent years* include Thai, Tagalog, Pashto, Tigrinya, Moroccan Berber, Yoruba, Bengali, Tamil, and Urdu. I also developed and maintained the LDC's Language Resource Wiki (now defunct).{{cite web |title=Welcome to the LDC Language Resource Wiki |url= http://lrwiki.ldc.upenn.edu/mediawiki/ |website=LDC Language Resource Wiki |publisher=Linguistic Data Consortium, University of Pennsylvania |accessdate=19 March 2016 |archiveurl= https://web.archive.org/web/20131010055637/http://lrwiki.ldc.upenn.edu/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page |archivedate=2013-10-10 |location=Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA |language=English}}

Guild of Copy Editors

Pages created

Pages significantly copyedited

Note: I didn't stop "significant" copyediting in November 2018, I just quit logging it here. If you're really interested in my editing history (which I seriously doubt), you can look it up in my contribution list, although that won't distinguish copyedits from significant content edits. (14:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC))

Latest on top. Also, lots more since [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Thnidu&offset=20050911181035&limit=20&target=Thnidu my first edits], before I started listing them.

    Doing

(Again, latest on top, and since I started listing them. Once I'm done, I move 'em from here to the appropriate ↑ ↓ other section of this page. That is, if I finish them and if I remember to move them.)

    Other significant edits

Oh, heck, for a year I've just been putting them under copyediting or not bothering to list them at all.

    Bug reports

    (Similarly...)

    • In MobileBeta front end, clicking in TOC does not go to a subsection whose parent section is unexpanded on the page. ([https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T95122 15.04.05])
    • mobile beta: warning icon ⚠, truncated, is triplicated at the top of a page where it appears ([https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T89525 15.02.13])
    • Mobile beta: "Speech balloons" icon on user talk page misgenerates target page name and reports "no conversations" ([https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52165#c12 14.11.15])

    Silly pages

Well, I think so. That's not a condemnation.
