:Thank you for the review. I’ve made significant revisions to address the concerns around notability, sourcing, and tone.
:Regarding Notability and Independent Coverage, the updated draft now includes substantial coverage from independent, reliable secondary sources with significant focus on Scott Loarie’s work. These include The New York Times (2022, 2017), The Atlantic (2017), National Geographic, Bay Nature, Scientific American, Mongabay, Smithsonian Magazine, Microsoft News, and others. Institutional references from Duke University, the Moore Foundation, and the California Academy of Sciences are now limited to factual biographical information.
:Regarding Tone and Neutrality, the article has been rewritten for clarity and neutrality, following Wikipedia’s Manual of Style. Subjective or promotional phrasing has been removed and replaced with facts attributed to independent sources.
:Regarding Expanded Biographical Context, the draft now includes additional details about Dr. Loarie’s academic background, climate science research (including the influential “velocity of climate change” metric cited in the IPCC AR6), and leadership at iNaturalist. Recognition includes the 2024 Heinz Award for the Environment and his selection as a TED speaker. A citation to the archived National Nature Assessment chapter draft has also been included.
:Please let me know if any further changes are recommended Abartella16 (talk) 07:27, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

:Thank you for the review. I’ve revised the draft to address the concerns regarding neutral tone and notability.
:Regarding Tone and style, the language has been edited to remove promotional or non-neutral phrasing. The article now uses formal, encyclopedic language aligned with Wikipedia’s Manual of Style.
:Regarding references, the draft relies on independent, reliable secondary sources including coverage from CB Insights, the World Economic Forum, and TED, which discuss Lauren Dunford’s work in a broader industry context.
:and Regarding Subject focus, the article emphasizes Dunford’s public leadership roles, including her TED Talk and her work recognized in industry evaluations, without promotional claims.
:Please let me know if further clarification or sourcing is needed. I appreciate your consideration of this updated version. Abartella16 (talk) 06:47, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

:Thank you for the review. I've revised the draft to address concerns about notability by adding multiple new references that provide significant coverage of Angus Hervey in reliable, secondary sources independent of the subject. These include profiles and features in The Times, Quartz, The Independent, ABC, Reformed Journal, and others. I’ve also expanded the article to better reflect his contributions as a writer, public speaker, and founder of two international media initiatives. I believe the revised draft now meets the criteria for Wikipedia notability. Abartella16 (talk) 21:12, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

:Thank you for the review. I've added additional references that further demonstrate Scott Loarie's notability through his leading role in building the world's largest citizen science platform, his leading role in coining the 'Climate Veolocity' (one of the most widely used metrics for estimating exposure of nature to climate change), his leading role in the widely publicized and controversial effort to list the American Pika as an Endangered Species, and his leading role as a spokesperson for the modern Citizen Scienc movement.
:Per WP:GNG, a subject is presumed notable when it has received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. This article meets that threshold through the following examples of independent, third-party coverage that address Scott Loarie directly and in detail:
:The New York Times: Two articles (Harmon 2022 and Jabr 2017) profile Loarie’s leadership and impact at iNaturalist, calling it “the nicest place online” and explaining its cultural and scientific significance.
:The Atlantic (2017): A feature article focusing on Loarie’s role in growing iNaturalist from a niche app into a global biodiversity platform.
:Bay Nature (2023): Covers the organization’s spin-off and independence under Loarie’s executive leadership.
:Scientific American, NPR, Christian Science Monitor, and Science: Discuss Loarie’s scholarly work on “climate change velocity,” a concept he coined that is widely cited in scientific literature and climate policy discussions (including the IPCC AR6).
:Christian Science Monitor and Outside Magazine (2016): Profile Loarie as a leading character in the controversial attempt to list the American Pika under the Endangered Species Act
:North Bay Business Journal (2024): Reports on Loarie’s receipt of the Heinz Award, which is an internationally recognized environmental honor and has fellowships with the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society.
:Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic, Microsoft, Amazon, and Google have published third-party features on Loarie’s work or on iNaturalist’s global impact under his leadership.
:These are not trivial mentions, press releases, or self-published materials. They provide substantive, detailed coverage of Loarie’s professional contributions to biodiversity science, technology, and citizen science advocacy.
:Loarie also:
:Spoke at the main TED conference in 2025.
:Is cited in over 50 scholarly papers listed on Google Scholar.
:Was awarded both the National Park Service Director’s Partnership Award.
:Has been profiled in the book Citizen Scientist by Mary Ellen Hannibal.
:According to WP:SIGCOV, no original research is required to demonstrate his notability—each of the above sources provides the basis for substantial encyclopedic content.
:Given the volume, quality, and diversity of these sources, I believe this article clearly meets Wikipedia’s notability criteria for a standalone biography. I would be happy to address any specific content or formatting concerns to improve the draft further.
:Thank you for your consideration. Abartella16 (talk) 08:08, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

{{divbox|gray|3=This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.|}}{{divbox|gray|3=This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs to
- meet any of the eight academic-specific criteria
- or cite multiple reliable, secondary sources independent of the subject, which cover the subject in some depth

{{divbox|gray|3=This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified. If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources.|}}{{divbox|gray|3=This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.|}} The comment the reviewer left was:
{{divbox|blue|3=Many sources are about MSCHF and not really Whaley, and interviews/primary sources are not good to establish notability/significant coverage.}} Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer.
