Women in Red
Hi there, AdaWoolf, and welcome to Women in Red. Thank you for creating a detailed biography of Enid Lucy Robertson which I've now moved to article space. I hope it is the first of many more biographies of women. I'm impressed by how quickly you've learned how to edit but even so you might find it useful to look through the guidance in our Primer. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 12:02, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
:Hi Ipigott, Thank you for reviewing the article, and thank you for this info. I did jump in and get started before I really knew what I was doing or how things work here. I didn't even realise that there is a visual editor until I had finished - I didn't need to learn the codes! So, I appreciate the link to the Primer. I will have a read and then look into what I can work on next.AdaWoolf (talk) 05:46, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

I do Wikipedia training for Wikimedia Australia via Zoom for anyone who wants it. Looking at your user page, your interest seems to be Australian topics so guessing you are probably in Australia. Although I am not personally active in Women in Red (biographies are not really my area of interest), my friend User:Oronsay (another Australian) is part of Women in Red and I am sure would be happy to help you too if asked. Also Wikimedia Australia runs a monthly training session and/or drop-in on Wednesday afternoons via Zoom as well as community meetings etc (see [https://wikimedia.org.au/wiki/Events
:Hi Kerry, thank you for the offer!! I would love some guidance/training/help/critique. And yes, I am in Australia, I live in Melbourne. I grew up in Queensland, and I am a big family history nerd, so I appreciate your interests.
:Today is my two week anniversary of my first Wikipedia edit because I read [https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/mar/08/the-guardian-view-on-wikipedias-female-volunteers-a-hive-heroism-that-changes-history| this article about Women in Red], that morning and got very inspired. So I am very very new. But quite obsessed.
:I am starting a new fulltime job on Monday, so I wont be able to make the drop in sessions on Wednesday arvo, but I will keep my eye on that calendar. I would love some training from you and/or User:Oronsay.
:I have heaps of questions but I am always a bit confused about who and how to ask. So thank you again for reaching out!

Doctors
Are you aware of the not under the radar doctors who were unable to work with the brits or oz forces in ww1 due the phobia of the military heirarchy in the brit empire?
I know of at least one west oz, and am not sure if she was part of a larger group, or a smaller one - very interested - she ended working for the french... JarrahTree 10:21, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
:Hi @JarrahTree, I have only starting to learn about women in WWI in the last few weeks :) I don't know a lot about them, but I think Helen Sexton did something similar to what you described, perhaps there was a bigger group she was involved with? I found this research yesterday:[https://sites.google.com/site/lookingfortheevidenceww1women/australian-women-at-ww1-research-home]. There is a lot of info there.
:I think the Scottish Women's Hospitals for Foreign Service took a lot of the volunteer doctors, and they may have been in France as well as other places. I think there were other groups and hospitals too. I don't know a lot about the war, so I am still trying to understand how these groups would have been organised, and how they relate to the military.
:If you have any further info, I would love to learn more!
:AdaWoolf (talk) 10:38, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
:: Yes the Helen Sexton experience was more than people realise - The problem with either of the world wars is the sheer volume of information and how to get a handle of what is the most helpful, for particular aspects of things - the Australian War Memorial collection which I used to enjoy when I was able to stop by in travels of the past...The particular individual I am thinking of I will try to find out more... (It was interesting last night the amount of TV about the grecian islands relevant to wounded Gallilopi soldiers ) Thanks for your reply, will try to follow up soon JarrahTree 10:51, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
Hello AdaWoolf:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Additions to Anti-Franchise League/Goldstein
I created the article on Isabella Goldstein. The bit about Jacob and Isabella Goldstein you added in the anit-franchise league was gold!. Thank you for turning up this nugget and linking to Isabella Goldstein. It's also very ironic that women in the subsequently established organisation, Australian National Womens League went on to become MPs and Senators. What happened to their ant-suffrage position? LPascal (talk) 12:33, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
:Thank you @LPascal :) I love Isabella's page, it was one of the first that I read when I started learning about the suffragists. I would like to have been a fly on the wall for the debates in the Goldstein house! I imagine Jacob's opinions fuelled Isabella and Vida's resolve on the suffrage issue. The anti-suffrage link to the ANWL is really fascinating. The beliefs of the conservative women seem to have evolved very quickly at that time. Lady Janet Clarke keeps popping up in my reading. She seems to have been a force, but I haven't got a handle on how she fits in with all these organisations and ideas. I need to do more reading to work her out. AdaWoolf (talk) 22:12, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
::Thanks. Glad you liked the IG page. No-one seems to have changed it much. Just to give you some tips off the top of my head on your WiR and women's history, there is another wikipedia editor, Aemilius Adolphin, who writes a lot on here about women's suffrage so her articles may have some good references, also Clare Wright the historian and author is great on Australian women's history and finally, a source of good information is archives/papers of the women concerned which could be in the SLV or the Public Records Office of Victoria, although I'm sure you're all over this.
