reversion of my talk page
I do attempt to edit constructively, I believe the warning on my talk page was the result of a misunderstanding with someone who was attempting to prevent vandalism. I clearly explained myself in the discussion page, but I failed to make an edit summary which is not required but recommended. I thank you for your concern and wish you the very warmest of regardsMethusedalot (talk) 02:29, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
:OK, I haven't reviewed your actual edits... so I don't have much room here to make judgment. Have you made an attempt to contact the user who has warned you? If you feel you have been wrongly warned the best thing to do is to talk the warning user. Thanks. ~ Arjun 13:42, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

I do not understand why my edit was vandalism. Please explain how bolding certain parts of a word (to express an abbreviation) is vandalism. 98.234.28.27 (talk) 21:57, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Warlocks MC and your threat to block
Dear Sir,
I have been personally asked by Warlocks members to remove the information pertaining to Danny McElheney (He has kids, grandkids and the case has been dropped due to lack of evidence) Also, the Chester Chapter has asked me on numorous occations to deleate the Zaroff story. They no longer want ties to him. Because this Wiki link is one of the major links to the Warlocks website, they feel that the majority of their site readers are see this information.
I may have deleted this McElheny-Zaroff link on few occasions, but I also have been a major contributor of "real" information to this page. I contributed the Breed article, corected the Spadorfa - Warlock article and the opening paragraph contains information very similar to the Warlocks website. I created the website, along side of, not only, one of the longest consecutive member but also a man who served 15 years of his life in federal prison for this club and is known as a leading member of the group, who have, over the last 40+ years made this club one of the most notorious in the country.
Therefore, I feel as though, my explanation should be enough for you to allow this deletion but if not, at least out of respect for the men this page references. Please let it end here because they won't if you don't —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.175.254.127 (talk) 18:23, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
:Thank you for your civility in approaching me about this issue. While Wikipedia doesn't exactly work in a way where the article is owned by certain people, even if that person is included in the article. However I do feel that your edits are in good faith, so if you feel changes should be made be bold and make the needed changes. If you have evidence that the case was dropped feel free to add it into the the article just remember to cite your sources. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

::::Um, well it is definitely on the questionable side. Personally I would probably delete it if I saw it categorized in WP:CSD, it doesn't show notability and quite frankly doesn't make sense. However I suppose it would be best to propose it for deletion. And I am positive that the consensus would be in large favor of delete. Regards. ~ Arjun 19:24, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Clarification?
OK, I got the apology for the warning message "not needed", but your reversion of my erasure of the vandalism to Talk:List of Native American leaders still stands. The specific content is barely worth discussing, but since I am still relatively new here can you clarify your policy on fixing vandalism (and maybe, as I did once, format errors) on article talk pages? Thx. Fat&Happy (talk) 20:22, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
:I fixed it, I'm sorry I reverted it thinking it was blanking or something... but you were right in your edits. It was my mistake, sorry for the confusion and trouble. Welcome to Wikipedia! ~ Arjun 21:16, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
::No problem... I understood the why of it, but I've been a little leery of editing comments by others on talk pages anyway ("don't put words in my mouth" sort of thing), so when you left the revert there after removing (very quickly, I might add) the warning, it just brought out the pre-existing uneasiness... Fat&Happy (talk) 21:46, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
:::Ah its ok man, yeah I quickly realized I made a mistake. And hey I know its hard being a new user at first! I was there, just be bold and add the changes you feel to be important! Ever user is equal on here, no-one has more say if that makes sense. Sorry for causing any uneasiness. Regards. ~ Arjun 21:49, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism Dispute
I don't see how that is vandalism. Other celebrities have similar information about them under personal information. How is the thing about him and his wife having a few cats and dogs anymore relevant than the fact that he uses a lot of hair gel. If you would like I can cite a source. In the meantime I suggest you look for yourself at the link to see that clearly he does sport this hairstyle. ( http://philliesphollowers.mlblogs.com/P2272766%20gel%20cr.jpg ) Thank you and sorry for any misunderstanding. DaBiGg3TiTaLiaNo (talk) 21:44, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
:Well it read somewhat unencyclopedic, firstly it would be a good idea to use edit summaries, also in most cases this would be looked at as a breach of WP:BLP. I suppose if you can site your source then maybe it could somehow be added, but maybe it would be best to try to maintain consensus on the talk page first. regards. ~ Arjun 21:51, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
:Fair enough, thanks for your input. I'll work on it in the sandbox and see how it turns out. I'm relatively new to this whole thing. Would you be opposed to changing the block settings on 128.8.73.83 to no account creation and talk page disabled? This is an individual at the University of Maryland who has a long term history of using multiple UMD IPs to vandalize roughly the same list of articles over and over again.

Discussion re: abuse of user talk page:
Let me know what you think. Thanks! SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
:Hey! This seems to be a pretty big issue, and a troubling user indeed. There is obvious abuse across the IPs and the user seems relentless. I agree that the talk page should be disabled along with the account creation. I'm honestly rather experienced with users abusing a wide variety of Ips to vandalize. What else do you think could be or should be done? Thanks. Regards. ~ Arjun 00:49, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
::Range block perhaps? ~ Arjun 00:53, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
:::I was a little bit wary about suggesting a range block, but it seems to be the only solution to end the vandalism, since the vandal seems to only attack via UMD's IP range. Might as well bring it up, I suppose, and see what comes of it. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:15, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
:::Also, since you agreed re: talkpage and account creation, I've gone ahead and adjusted the block settings for this user. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:17, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
::::Yeah agreed, it would probably be the only way to deal with this specific vandal. I think it would be a pretty good decision. And good job adjusting the block settings. thanks! regards, ~ Arjun 01:30, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

WP:IND Newsletter is back! It's been nearly a year since the last edition, but we hope to bring out issues on a more regular basis now. The India Wikiproject was set up to increasing coverage of India-related topics on Wikipedia, and over the past few months the focus has been on improving article quality. A number of the project's featured articles underwent featured article reviews over the past year. Of these, Darjeeling and Flag of India survived the review process, while the rest were demoted. During the same period, Gangtok, Harbhajan Singh, Darjeeling and Mysore were featured on the main page respectively on August 20, September 17, November 6 and December 29, 2009. Meanwhile, articles on topics as diverse as Political history of Mysore and Coorg (1565–1760), Marwari horse and Iravan were promoted as featured articles, and respectively appeared on the main page on March 25, May 17 and May 28, 2010. Consequently, the number of FA-class articles under the project's scope dropped from 67 in August 2009 to 63 in June 2010. The number of good articles, however, saw a more than 40% increase, from 91 to 130 during the same period, while the number of featured lists saw a 33% increase from 12 to 16. Due to the recent policy changes regarding unreferenced Biographies of Living People (BLPs), an effort was started in January 2010 to source all unreferenced BLPs coming under Wikiproject India. 1200 such articles were identified initially and more were added to the list later. Due to the sourcing effort, the number of Indian unreferenced BLPs is down to 565 currently. During February-April 2010, There was a [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3ANoticeboard_for_India-related_topics&action=historysubmit&diff=361437108&oldid=361415052 large scale disruption] of Kerala related articles by a Thrissur based IP vandal. Editing from a dynamic IP BSNL connection, the vandal changed dates of birth, death and ages of a number of Malayalam and Tamil film actors. Later he added a few international biographies to his list. He also marked some living people like Arvind Swamy as dead. A month long range block was imposed on his IP range two times and each time he came back to vandalise dates once the block expired. Currently the range has been blocked for three months till September 11, 2010. |
