DYK nomination of BLKBOK
25px Hello! Your submission of BLKBOK at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 15:32, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
:Cbl62, please note that not only does this nomination have two QPQs due because it was posted during our backlog when the extra QPQ was required, but QPQs are now required to be posted along with the nomination—the week's delay allowed in the past is no longer allowed. The lack was overlooked previously, but now that it's been discovered, you'll need to act quickly. Please post your two QPQs right away; I'd hate to see this nomination closed when it's otherwise in good shape. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:32, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Request for Dan Gilbert
Hi Cbl62, I am working to add information to the Dan Gilbert article. I see that you're a sports fan and a member of WP:Michigan. As Dan is the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers and has invested much money in Detroit, I hope you'll have an interest in the edit request I posted on the Talk page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Dan_Gilbert#Additions_to_the_page. Would you consider adding information to the Early life and education and the Philanthropy sections?

[[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion|Proposed deletion]] of [[:Leonard Skinner]]
The article :Leonard Skinner has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
He's only "famous" for one relatively small thing, it could just be said in the Lynyrd Skynyrd page that the band is named after him, WP:1E
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Newspaper images
Hi Cbl, I hope you are well. Am I to understand that any image published in a newspaper between 1930 and 1977 without the symbol "©" or the word "copyright" affixed to it is in the public domain...? JTtheOG (talk) 08:34, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
: No, my understanding that the photo is covered by the newspaper's overall copyright. The issue turns on whether the copyright to the image was renewed. This needs to be checked on a case-by-case basis. Cbl62 (talk) 09:03, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
::Would you mind quickly explaining the process? How would you check for images like :File:Boley Dancewicz (1941).jpg or :File:St Cloud Times 1942 11 14 Page 9.jpg? Did you have to look through something like [https://archive.org/details/catalogofcopyrig332libr/page/20/mode/2up this catalog]? JTtheOG (talk) 21:32, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
::: My best suggestion is to read through the discussion at User talk:Cbl62/Archive 2024#File:Michael F Seyfrit.jpg. Cbl62 (talk) 01:07, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
::::Thank you. That was helpful. Since neither the Los Angeles Mirror or The Star-News are listed on the [https://web.archive.org/web/20240428035652/https://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/cce/firstperiod.html first renewals inventory], does that mean that an old image (1940s/50s) from these periodicals is in the public domain if it appears without a copyright or reprint notice accompanying it either as a caption or in image credits? JTtheOG (talk) 02:30, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
::::: Since the photo may be a wire photo, it makes sense to also search for the subject of the image (in this case "dancewicz"?) to see if there are any renewals. Cbl62 (talk) 02:41, 22 March 2025 (UTC)
::::::For example, [https://www.newspapers.com/article/los-angeles-mirror/168251593/ this] image appears to me like a photo original to the Mirror. I didn't find it in any other accounts of this particular game, including those from the AP, UP, and INS wires, nor in an original LA Times story. Additionally, both the previous and the subsequent pages include images specifically tagged with "AP Wirephoto", further solidifying my suspicions. Would you surmise the same thing? Early fight names for small Michigan colleges
After doing all that work on the Kalamazoo and Albion decades articles, it looks there may be some more early fight names were are missing for the small Michigan colleges:
- Alma; Template:Alma Scots football navbox: current naming scheme is "Maroon and Cream" from 1894 to 1931 and "Scots" thereafter. I've seen some newspapers articles calling Alma the "Presbyterians" in the early 1900s
- Albion; Template:Albion Britons football navbox: current scheme is no fight name before 1900, "Methodists" from 1900 to 1929, and "Britons" thereafter. I think "Methodists" may been used before 1900 a well.
- Adrian; Template:Adrian Bulldogs football navbox: current scheme is "Bulldogs" from inception in 1892. I suspect the "Bulldogs" fight name did not come into use until sometime in the early 1900s.
- Hillsdale; Template:Hillsdale Chargers football navbox: current scheme is "Dales" from inception in 1891 to 1967 and "Chargers" thereafter. I suspect the "Dales" nickname did not come into use until sometime in the 1900s.
- Kalamazoo; Template:Kalamazoo Hornets football navbox: current scheme is no fight name from 1892 to 1922 and "Hornets" thereafter. But I have seen references to "Baptists" in the early 1900s.
- Olivet; Template:Olivet Comets football navbox: current scheme is no fight name from 1890 to 1907, "Crimson" from 1908 to 1931, and "Comets" thereafter. I have also seen references to "Congregationalists".
Something to keep in mind as well flesh this out. Jweiss11 (talk) 19:16, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
=Kalamazoo=
- 1909: Sources referring to them as Baptists include [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168668993/ 9-24-09], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168668413/ 10-31-09] [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168667895/ 11-07-09], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168669276/ 11-11-09], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168668591/ 11-13-09] [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168668199/ 11-14-09], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168668766/ 11-16-09]
- 1923 and 1924: Navbox says Hornets, but I'm not finding any sources using the term. The newspapers still referred to them as "Baptists". E.g., [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168674051/ 10-10-24], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-kzoo-baptists/168674363/ 9-12-23]
- 1925: Hornets in common usage. E.g., [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-ypsilanti-defeats/168673455/ here]
=Olivet=
I searched Newspapers.com from 1900-1924. Sources calling Olivet sports teams the Congregationalists are in the hundreds. Examples: [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-olivet/168676401/ 1904], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/lansing-state-journal-olivet/168677471/ 1906], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-grand-rapids-press-olivet/168676236/ 1907], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/lansing-state-journal-olivet/168675745/ 1913], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-olivet/168676821/ 1913], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/jackson-citizen-patriot-olivet/168677303/ 1913], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/lansing-state-journal-olivet/168675889/ 1915], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/lansing-state-journal-olivet/168675998/ 1915], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/lansing-state-journal-olivet/168676109/ 1915], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-olivet/168677155/ 1915], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-kalamazoo-gazette-olivet/168676711/ 1918], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/battle-creek-enquirer-olivet/168676997/ 1923], [https://www.newspapers.com/article/jackson-citizen-patriot-olivet/168676563/ 1924]
A quick search appears to also show hundreds referring to them as the Crimson.

Cbl, a few thoughts here:
- When including rankings in the schedule tables, the "rankyear", "rankdivision", and "poll" fields need to be properly set. Otherwise table the footer will, by default, state that the rankings are from the (FBS) "Coaches Poll".
- Those decade overview tables after the lead ought to include postseason results and finals rankings, where applicable.
- The cfb call crises that persists on many national season articles, such as 1957 college football season, could he helped by a priority on creating decades articles over non-independents in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s over more recent decades.

Hal Hanson
Hi there. It appears Hal Hanson (American football guard) is ambiguous with Hal Hanson, who also played as a guard. Neither appears to be a primary topic, so maybe the dreaded birth year should be the disambiguator (WP:NCGRIDIRON). I'll leave it to your judgement if you care to make the moves and update the links. (As an aside, plain (guard) probably meets WP:CONCISE.[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?limit=500&offset=0&profile=default&search=deepcategory%3A%22Players+of+American+football+by+position%22+intitle%3A%22%28guard%29%22&title=Special:Search&ns0=1])—Bagumba (talk) 08:34, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
:Cbl, nice work expanding the 1905 Hal Hanson article. The other day, I also noticed this issue that Bagumba brings up. I've moved the articles to Hal Hanson (American football, born 1895) and Hal Hanson (American football, born 1905). There is also Harold Hansen (American football) and Hal Hansen! Jweiss11 (talk) 17:18, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
::I've done some more cleanup and tweaking to all these articles. They are all now listed at Harold Hanson, a disambiguation page. I think there could be some conflation between Hal Hansen and Harold Hansen (American football). Both are listed as having played at Minnesota in 1916. The Minnesota website lists a "Harold F. Hanson" lettering in 1916; see https://gophersports.com/sports/2020/4/13/football-letterwinners. The 2024 Minnesota media guide lists a "Harold Hansen, B" as a program alumnus that played for the Green Bay Packers in 1923; see page 142 here: https://gophersports.com/documents/2024/7/22/2024_MediaGuide.pdf.Jweiss11 (talk) 17:45, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
::: {{ping|Jweiss11}} User:BeanieFan11 has also been trying to sort the various Hal Hansens. That's what prompted me to expand this one. You guys should put your heads together and see if you can figure out just how many Hal Hansen/Hansons there were playing high-level football in the Upper Midwest of the early 20th century.
