WikiProject Yorkshire Newsletter - June 2025

| style="vertical-align:top; border:2px #007fff solid; padding:1em; width:45%; background:#ccf;"|
; Aims
After discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire in April 2008.
Specific aims for the project are:-
- To complete tagging and assessment of all Yorkshire related articles (See Assessment)
- To recruit more active editors (See Member News)
- To bring our top level article Yorkshire up to Featured article status
- To bring all other top priority articles (currently 15 with 2 at FA) to at least Good article status
- To set up a weekly or monthly selected article improvement drive
- To produce a regular news letter for circulation to members
;Priority Articles
The top priority articles that have been identified to date are as follows -
- Bradford • Doncaster • East Riding of Yorkshire • Henry Moore • Kingston upon Hull • Leeds • Northern England • North Yorkshire • Ripon • Sheffield • South Yorkshire • Wakefield • West Yorkshire • William Wilberforce • York • Yorkshire • Yorkshire and the Humber
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.

Please nominate future articles for improvement at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yorkshire.
; Please bear in mind...
File:Imbox style.pngThe project is subscribed to a [https://bambots.brucemyers.com/cwb/bycat/Yorkshire.html clean-up listing] which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
- Monitoring is essential
Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
- Moves
Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
;Thanks
- A very big {{Thank you}} to all the editors who labour away quietly and help make this WikiProject what it is; no edit goes unnoticed.
- To members who have added suggestions to the ToDo list at Yorkshire Portal.
- To the football and rugby editors who have done sterling work in keeping abreast of the top clubs.
- To all the WikiProject Yorkshire editors who have been busy on vandal patrol at watchlist.

Query
Hello, Colin,
I was looking into some comments made at the AFC Help Desk by a paid editor who has yet to disclose and I saw a comment made by you. In it, you used the abbreviation WP:452 but this is not a policy page. Was this a typo? What page did you mean to offer to help this editor? Thank you for any help you can offer to clean this up. Liz Read! Talk! 04:48, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
:It was a typo for WP:42. I'll go and correct it if somebody hasn't already. Thanks. ColinFine (talk) 07:57, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
Indiravallam
::please support Sir, Indiravallam (talk) 13:17, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
:::Hello, {{U|Indiravallam}}.
:::I have moved your post to a new section, since it clearly has no connection with Liz's query.
:::Since you didn't indicate what help you are looking for, I am left to guess that this is probably about User:Indiravallam/sandbox, and you are appealing to me because I gave you advice at WP:AFCHD#10:57, 21 June 2025 review of submission by Indiravallam.
:::Have you looked at the page I pointed you to, and evaluated your sources against it?
:::What help are you looking for?
:::Having looked at your sources I now know that none of them are anywhere near what is needed: the first one is an interview, and so not indepedent, and the other three do not contain significant coverage of him.
:::Did you read WP:YFA before you started?
:::If you want to write a Wikipedia article about Sharma, then absolutely the first thing you should do, certainly before you spend time writing any text, is to find several places where people wholly unconnected with him have chosen to publish a significant amount directly about him (say, at least three paragraphs), and been published in reliable sources.
:::If you cannot find at least three such sources, then you will know that he is not notable in Wikipedia's sense, and there is no point spending even a moment more on trying to write about him.
:::If you can find such sources, then you should forget anything you know about him from anywhere else, and start by writing a neutral summary of what those sources say about him - nothing more. If that makes a reasonable encyclopaedia article, then you cna add uncontorversial factual information from sources which are not independent. --ColinFine (talk) 17:07, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
::::THQ and I will. Indiravallam (talk) 09:48, 25 June 2025 (UTC)
:::::Yes I did it sir Indiravallam (talk) 08:35, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
