  • A new filter has been added to the {{#special:Nuke}} tool, which allows administrators to filter for pages in a range of page sizes (in bytes). This allows, for example, deleting pages only of a certain size or below. {{phab|T378488}}
  • Non-administrators can now check which pages are able to be deleted using the {{#special:Nuke}} tool. {{phab|T376378}}

Question for administrator

{{Admin help|answered=yes}}

Please help me with...

How do you report possible ban evasion? New account (Pwbumpedm) joins shortly after Drmies bans Nbaer00788 from editing Marc Mysterio (see Special:BlockList/User:Nbaer00787 for the ban log entry, and Nbaer's talk page for Drmies interaction and notification to them about the ban) and immediately starts making the same edits that got Nbaer banned (Starting with this edit, 1279061762). Notably, Nbaer's final comment was "why did you remove the boxing section", and the first thing Pwb does is insert two boxing sections with some of the exact same content of Nbaer's that was reverted.

I don’t know if WP:BRV applies if you aren't sure the account is a confirmed sock.

I doubt I'll get a response before someone else deals with it, but I REALLY want to know what on earth I’m supposed to do in a situation like this for future reference. Do I report it to WP:SPI? WP:ANI? What the heck am I supposed to say there if so?

How do I assume good faith in this situation? I feel like if I do anything, I'm assuming bad faith, which is FIRMLY against my principles—and WP's principles. I also don’t have rollback permissions, so, assuming I even tried to undo an edit, it would probably just make the page even more of a mess.

Thank you in advance.

(Side note: I’m not new to WP. I’m pretty experienced at this point. I just have never been in this situation.) EmptySora_ (talk) 09:26, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

:You would start a sockpuppet investigation, see WP:SPI. It's not assuming bad faith to report what you feel is evidence others are acting in bad faith(by evading a block or ban). 331dot (talk) 09:40, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

::I am not this other editor. I am simply adding in factual evidence relevant to the subject of the article that is propey sourced. Wikipedia is a place where we are here to improve articles to educate readers. Not deleting well sourced additions. That is just trolling. I stand by my edits. Pwbumpedm (talk) 09:52, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

:::I will let other editors/admins be the judge of that, and want nothing to do with this dispute. Please understand, however, that, from my perspective, this all REALLY screams WP:DUCK. I will take your word for it, though, and believe you are not User:Nbaer00787.

:::However, you are, without any discussion, restoring content multiple editors have expressed they have a problem with—content that got another user banned from editing that page. Following WP:CON would help ensure your edits to the page are not reverted. Like you, I want the best for this website, but I do not agree with how you have approached this situation.

:::All in all, I wish you the best. EmptySora_ (talk) 10:27, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

::::If you can give me valid reasons why it should not be added, I'd be happy to consider this. Simply alleging other editors removed it or promotional is not very persuasive. When I google MARC MYSTERIO these boxing referencs are the first items that appear and Irish Star and Daily Express are longtime national media outlets and newspaper in UK and Ireland. Are you saying the information is not factual or the quotes are misattributed? Pwbumpedm (talk) 10:49, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::I told you, I don’t have any stake in this discussion. Drmies and Jessicapierce explained their concerns in their edit summaries. It might be helpful to read WP:BLP, since that is partly where their concerns lie. EmptySora_ (talk) 10:57, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

:Should anyone later stumble in on this, an SPI has been opened. So, there's no need for anyone else to report it.

:Thanks 331dot for the [very timely] assistance! EmptySora_ (talk) 11:36, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

  • Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
  • An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{t|sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
  • An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
