    = Edit Summaries =

File:Information_icon.svg Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
    Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.
As per above notice from bodnotbod. You gave no reason for you recent edits to Germanic Neopaganism. Please use edit summaries. - 220 of Borg 01:29, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

    Hibernation (computing)

    Hi.

Thanks for trying to fix Hibernation (computing). Unfortunately, your changes was not devoid of problems.

First, you seem to have added hyphen to some random words like "operating-system", "power-plan" and "power-usage". Why? Second, you wrote things that were plain wrong. For example:

    • "Windows Vista introduced a hybrid sleep feature, which saves the contents of memory to hard disk beforehand". It saves the contents when it receives the command, not beforehand.
    • "...the disk space taken by the file re-purposed using a simple command." It can be freed, but no, it cannot be re-purposed.
    • "A significant market ... offers features beyond those present in the Windows". No, it doesn't. Market cannot offer features; software can.

    Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 23:31, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

:"The use of hyphens reduces ambiguity." No, it does not. First, there is no ambiguity and second, it just makes the text ugly and prevents the article from becoming a featured article.

:And I didn't ask. ("Why?" was not a question.)

    :Best regards,

:Codename Lisa (talk) 06:22, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

::My friend, before invoking MOS:HYPHEN and such, you must know English. "Little-celebrated" is a compound modifier; "operating system support" is a noun phrase consisting of an adjective, a noun and a noun adjunct. There is no way for "operating" to apply to "support". Putting a hyphen between "operating" and "system" is inventing a problem that does not exist. Even if there was ambiguity, you should have solved it using "of". The most baffling thing is that the part in MOS:HYPHEN that you are talking about explicitly says "To link related terms in compound modifiers".

    ::Best regards,

    Proposed deletion of [[Stanza (computing)]]

    File:Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Stanza (computing) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

:Seems almost like a dictionary entry (it seems like WP:NOTADICTIONARY applies). How is this to be expanded into something worthy of an independent article?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{Tlc|proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
