I am intrigued by your contribution to the infobox case. A theme rattling though my head is "some of the dispute arises because the two 'sides' aren't really in opposition, even though they think they are, and some aspects can be resolved though better information". One of the examples appears to be the desire of those supporting infoboxes to use them to deliver metadata. I've heard more than once that one can provide metadata without having to create an infobox. I'm aware of Persondata. Is this what is meant, or is there something more? I'd like to get more up to speed on the subject.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 23:46, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

You are right that infobox controversies are not limited to classical music. They may be particularly noteworthy there because there is a strong anti-infobox culture who push back against the infobox pushers. A particularly ugly controversy involved Soviet Union, where the issue had to do with the successor states of the Soviet Union. There was an edit war between those who wanted to include the Baltic Republics and those who wanted to exclude them. Full page protection was imposed for one week, and there was an RFC, but that didn't end it. Eventually a modified infobox template had to be developed to identify the continuator state (Russia), the restored states, and the successor state. The basic problem is that infoboxes, by their nature, simplify, and sometimes the question is what is the "least wrong" simplification. One of the participants in the Soviet debate invented a new method of SHOUTING on talk pages, the use of markup to increase the font size, which is far more disruptive than ordinary shouting. Another of the participants was eventually identified as a sockpuppet. Infobox controversies are not limited to music. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:04, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

I thought I had spotted your name somewhere recently, which made me hope you were back editing WP. I am delighted to see that I was not imagining it, though I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the content of your user page. Be that as it may, I am on a round-robin brain-picking mission of English-speaking music lovers, in re A Hero's Life. I posted a suggestion on the article talk page back in April to the effect that as orchestras, Grove, record companies, concert promoters and all comers refer to the piece as "Ein Heldenleben" it would make sense if WP followed suit. At Wikimania there were so many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!

We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to speficy a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!

;Style guides for translations

Translations are of both full articles and shorter articles continues. The process where short articles are chosen for translation hasn't been fully transparent. In the coming months we hope to have a first guide, so that anyone who writes medical or health articles knows how to get their articles to a standard where they can be translated! That's why we're currently working on medical good lede criteria! The idea is to have a similar peer review process to good article nominations, but only for ledes.

Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
