• As part of the project's New Year's Resolutions, there is an ongoing effort to decrease the number of stubs to 10%. As of August 2, we are at 11.96%, with 505 articles currently in :Category:Stub-Class Professional wrestling articles. It still would be greatly appreciated if members would expand, source and improve stub articles, and a list has been placed on the stub article subpage of stub articles of well-known wrestlers and tag teams that should be fairly easy to improve.
• Based on the members list, there are currently 225 members participating in WikiProject Professional wrestling.
• The style guide has been updated to reflect the new consensus on the formatting in the "In wrestling" sections of biographies, and the new format can be found at WP:PW/SG#In wrestling. Please help out in converting all biographies to the new format.

• Angelina Love defeated Tara to win the TNA Women's Knockout Championship.
• Kevin Nash defeated A.J. Styles to win the TNA Legends Championship.
• Scott Steiner and Booker T won the TNA World Tag Team Championship by defeating Beer Money, Inc. (Robert Roode and James Storm).
• Taz made his TNA debut.
• On July 21, Hijo del Fantasma defeated Averno to win the CMLL World Middleweight Championship.
• Damien Steele, a former WWE developmental wrestler, died on July 22. The cause of death was determined as a brain aneurysm.
• Dragon Gate USA held its inaugural pay-per-view event on July 25 at The Arena.
• At WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view on July 26:
• Christian defeated Tommy Dreamer to win the ECW Championship.
• Mickie James won the WWE Divas Championship by defeating Maryse.
• Jeff Hardy defeated CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

• On TNA Impact!:
• Mick Foley won the TNA Legends Championship from Kevin Nash.
• Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams won the IWGP Tag Team Championship by defeating Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Deon) in a Tables match; it is unknown whether New Japan Pro Wrestling will recognize this title change.

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

1. The project's New Year's Resolutions are listed here, and a list of topics that are close to Good topic status is listed here. Consider helping by achieving an aim listed or by improving an article on the Topics list to Good Article status.
2. If you come across an article that fails notability requirements, you can tag it for speedy deletion if the criteria apply, propose it for deletion, or nominate it at WP:AFD.
3. The lead section of an article should introduce the subject and summarize the entire article's contents. The size of the lead will depend on the size of the article.
4. Please avoid adding rumors to articles. Most rumors cannot be sourced with a reliable source and go against the Biographies of living persons policy.
5. Be aware of the new format in the "In wrestling" sections of biographies, and apply the relevant section (WP:PW/SG#In wrestling) to new articles that you create, or previously created articls that have not yet been updated after the change.

• On August 6, Al Tomko died after a two-month bout with pancreatic cancer aged 77.
• Ricky Ortiz was released from his WWE contract on August 8.
• On August 12:
• Karl Von Hess died at the age of 90, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
• Gladys Gillem died at the age of 88.
• It was announced through various wrestling news sites that Jeff Jarrett had sold his final shares of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) to the Carter family and would be returning to the promotion as a wrestler only.
• At the August 13 Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) television tapings, Heath Slater defeated Tyler Reks to win the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship.
• Apolo Dantés announced that he was starting his own promotion named Dantes Lucha Factory which will be based in Guadalajara.
• On August 14, Nick Dinsmore (Eugene) was released from his WWE contract.

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

1. Adhere strictly to the Biographies of living persons policy when adding to information to biography articles.

:#Only add controversial, possibly contentious or libellous information if it comes from a reliable source and is verifiable.

:#Make sure that all information contained in biographies of living persons is written from a non-point of view perspective and is neutral.

1. Avoid using dirtsheets as sources. Adhere to WP:RS when adding information with a source to articles. For a list of reliable and unreliable wrestling-related sources see Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Style guide#Sources.
2. Please remember that fair use images and media can be only be used if no free equivalent is available or could be created. Fair use images uploaded when a free equivalent exists will be deleted.
3. Refer to WP:NC during the process of renaming an article, if a name does not adhere to these guidelines, be bold and move the article to the correct target name. If there is a naming conflict, follow the steps to a resolution or discuss the move on the project's talk page.
4. Trivia sections are discouraged in wikipedia articles. Information from such sections, if notable, should be merged into the main body of the article.

• Hiroshi Tanahashi vacated the IWGP Heavyweight Championship after he suffered a broken orbital bone in a match with Shinsuke Nakamura.
• Valiente won the Mexican National Welterweight Championship by defeating Sangre Azteca.
• Player Dos won the Chikara Young Lions Cup by defeating Colin Delaney in the final of the 2009 Young Lions tournament.
• At TNA's Hard Justice pay-per-view:
• ODB won the TNA Women's Knockout Championship when she and Cody Deaner defeated the defending champion Angelina Love and Velvet Sky in a tag team match.
• Samoa Joe won the TNA X Division Championship by defeating Homicide.
• Kevin Nash defeated Mick Foley to win the TNA Legends Championship.
• Elijah Burke made his TNA debut under the name "the Pope" D'Angelo Dinero.
• On August 17, it was reported that TNA signed a three year deal with Spike TV, and that TNA had replaced color commentator Don West with Taz.
• Dragon Gate USA announced a television deal with The Fight Network on August 18.
• On the August 20 episode of TNA Impact!, an eight-team tournament to crown the first TNA Women's Knockout Tag Team Champions was announced. The tournament will commence on the August 27 episode of Impact!.
• On August 21, Alex Koslov won the AAA Cruiserweight Championship by defeating the defending champion Extreme Tiger, and Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Rocky Romero in an elimination match.
• On August 23:
• CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Jeff Hardy in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at SummerSlam.
• Ring of Honor announced that Bryan Danielson had agreed to a contract with WWE "in principle".
• On August 27, WWE announced that, effective of September 2, they will be suspending Rey Mysterio for a violation of the Wellness Program.

4. Avoid overlinking in an article. If a subject has been linked once already in the body paragraphs, there is no need to link it again. Lists are the only exceptions to this policy.
5. Do not give undue weight to recent events in articles.
