Question from Kritzerdagoat (17:13, 2 May 2025)

YOOO! its ya boy, kritzerdagoat, anyways, enough with the jokes, i cant really talk now because i have state testing (which i hate with a passion even though i pass every time) next week tuesday-thursday, also, ive been trying to edit some youth futball/soccer articles, such as the Mali U-17, but i cant figure out how to do they thing where they can make the column gold, sliver, or bronze. if you can, by friday, can you please send me a tutorial (or just tell me) how to do something like that. Thank you, from ya boy-Kritzerdagoat --Kritzerdagoat (talk) 17:13, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi Kritzerdagoat. I believe you're referring to this article as I saw that you edited its talkpage: 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. You wrote ... column gold, sliver, or bronze ..., but did you mean the gold, silver, and bronze rows like in this section: 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations#Tournament rankings? If yes, this is a complicated edit and I wouldn't recommend attempting it to someone who, so far, has only made 1 other edit to a Wikipedia article. That said, for reference, the gold/silver/bronze coding is here and the tables tutorial is here. Good luck with your state testing; I hope you do great! --Rosiestep (talk) 13:43, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from Buxtobe (15:00, 3 May 2025)

Hi Rosie,

please excuse me, but I have a question.

I have been submitting the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Bernhard_Wessling for some time now. It was rejected by a reviewer because the source citation was missing. I submitted all this later, but haven't heard anything since.

Is there perhaps a way to move the process forward?

Many thanks for your information and

best regards

Dirk --Buxtobe (talk) 15:00, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi Buxtobe. I made some edits (headers, subheader, re-arranging, External links, categories) to the draft; take a look. Other things that I think need doing before submitting for another review:

:* Add at least one reliable source as an inline citation to each paragraph (except for the lead paragraph) to address the comment made by HickoryOughtShirt?4 in their review.

:* In the lead section/paragraph, add sentences that address Johannes Maximilian comment: .

:* In the "Career and research" section (this is a common header title for scientist biographies):

::*Arrange information in chron order.

::*Add additional subheaders (e.g., like the one I did) if applicable.

:* Add your comment (disclosure about paid editing) to the talkpage.

:Please note that my edits or suggested edits are meant only to address your request to ... move the process forward. It shouldn't be construed that my edits or suggested edits guarantee that the draft will eventually be accepted and moved into mainspace. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:45, 3 May 2025 (UTC)

::Hi Rosie,

::thank you very much for your tips, which I will take a closer look at again.

::Let's hope that the review for the submission will go faster once the very last errors have been corrected.

::Best regards

Question from Goldto (20:18, 4 May 2025)

Added some text, facts. How do I cite? --Goldto (talk) 20:18, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

:tps Hi @Goldto. You can take a look at Help:Referencing for beginners for some basic tips on how to cite sources. You may want to use the "Ref Toolbar" built into the edit window to help arrange and insert your citation into the article, while adding certain information such as the author's name. Be sure that the material you are adding is cited to a reliable source such as a reputable newspaper, book, or research journal. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask here on Rosie's talk page, or over at my own (linked next to my signature) with the red "talk" button. Question from Elytimandbarrywiki (11:30, 6 May 2025)

hey, Ely here, I've not actually previously edited any pages or created new ones, but within my organisation ive been tasked with setting up a few relevant wiki accounts as part of our 25th anniversary, outlining some of the prominent historical happenings and cultural moments of interest that have got us where we are today, this isn't promotional but more just a chance to outline and solidify some of these key events in uk music culture in the past 25 years. I have a draft of the first main wiki page if you'd b willing to help out with some details etc... --Elytimandbarrywiki (talk) 11:30, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi Elytimandbarrywiki. Lots to unpack in your comment. First, no worries about being a new editor; we're all new at some point. I'm glad you're willing to learn the ropes. Regarding : please do not do that. One account (username) per person. The account needs to be a personal one not related to a company/organization. In so far as your current username incorporates your company name, it probably needs to change. This gives more detail. Regarding "... I have a draft of the first main wiki page ...": it is considered a conflict of interest to write about your employer. But there is a process you can follow if you have put together some initial information; this provides details. Hope this info is helpful regarding a proposed Tim & Barry page. Also, I hope you start editing other, unrelated articles; we're glad to have you here. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:36, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

::Morning, thanks for the reply, regarding the multiple accounts. that was my bad as that was a typo, I meant more a few relevant pages perhaps on the sub series and wider projects of Tim and Barry (or perhaps the commercial work with Adidas or nike or Jameson for example)? However, learning about the rules and regulations on conflicts of interest maybe ill stick to trying to get the one page approved first before I get stuck into more, furthermore, regarding the username, how would I change It? And is it necessary, I don't specifically wish to keep my ties to the organisation hidden or secret as that doesn't feel genuine of me, and id be more than happy to do anything and everything to get these pages to be fully impartial and unbiased to a point that even though I do work within that organisation, the pages can be approved on the basis that they are filled with valid, reliable information about an organisation that in my opinion, deserves the airtime as a largely influential factor in the documentation and development of the uk underground music scene in the last 25 years. Finally, I also have a question about the impartiality of my proposed page, how do you stay impartial about claims of being some of the first to do something, if it can be verified and proven that the organisation was some of the first to be doing something (multi camera live streams in the early 2000s around the time of YouTubes creation for example). On the topic of editing other pages, as and when I come across them I most definitely will when I have the confidence and certainty that i'm making verified reliable changes! looking forward to becoming part of the wiki family one page at a time! Elytimandbarrywiki (talk) 10:45, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

::Sorry for the double message, I also just remembered that something that may help with the case of my draft being noteworthy and worth creating is Tim and Barrys mention across a few other wiki pages, including the jean Charles de Castelbajac wiki page (long time collaborator with Tim and barry) along with pages about skeptas single 'thats not me' and Tempa T's 'next hype'. sorry that all sounds a bit promotional but I just wanted to explain the pages the organisation is mentioned , in hopes maybe these pages would ultimately maybe be linked? I know wiki doesn't automatically backlink articles but maybe you could explain or direct me to where i could learn about that? Elytimandbarrywiki (talk) 10:52, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

:::Hi Elytimandbarrywiki. Regarding how to request a change in your username, see here. As long as you disclose on your userpage and on the article's talkpage (if its creation gets approved) that you have a conflict of interest, you have met the disclosure requirements, e.g., your username shouldn't reflect your employment. Regarding mentions of Tim and Barry in other Wikipedia articles, such as in Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, you can add a wikilink in the other article. Instructions on how to add a wikilink are here, but basically, it would look like this: Tim and Barry (or Tim & Barry) which will produce a "redlink" indicating that the article doesn't exist. Someday, if the article does exist, the redlink automatically turn blue. Wishing you well! --Rosiestep (talk) 07:27, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

::::morning, @Rosiestep, thanks for the tips, i've sent off to have my name changed and taken your advice to start editing smaller things on wiki pages, adding red links or citations every now and again to get more comfortable with wiki, hope this helps and I haven't made any major mistakes! as far as getting my draft approved, is there any other steps I can take to help make that possible? Elytimandbarrywiki (talk) 10:31, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

:::::Elytimandbarrywiki, the next step (or maybe I should say, my advice) would be to follow whatever recommendations the reviewer(s) has after you submit the article at Articles For Creation. Wishing you all the best. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:40, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from UKMusicArchivist (10:47, 15 May 2025)
hey rosie, ive completed some smaller edits in my free time but my draft (that was first declined within a few hours) has had no edits or changes since, is this something ive done or is the wait normal? --UKMusicArchivist (talk) 10:47, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

:Hi UKMusicArchivist. Thank you for changing your username.

:Regarding Draft:Tim & Barry:

:(a) The reviewing editor stated, so I would encourage you to continue adding reliable sources to every stated fact. After a quick look at the draft, I noticed that a few sentences/paragraphs have no references.

:(b) As for wait time, there's a note at the top of the draft page which states: . The draft was created May 6 (9 days ago) so there could potentially be several weeks before a volunteer editor made a second review of the draft.

:(c) I see your conflict of interest message on your userpage and on the draft's talkpage; good. If you are being paid to do this work, you are required to also disclose that; this is a redline requirement. In order to sort out if "paid editing" applies to your edits, please read this. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:40, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

 • An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in sticky decoration wrapper. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
 • An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
