Are you a Marathi historian?

Please tell me

Only then will it be easy for me to put my point before you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aryan Bagkar (talkcontribs) 04:45, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

Yesubai was empress consort only not consort. and the name of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was Sambhaji. You speak as Sambha. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aryan Bagkar (talkcontribs) 05:20, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:My profile as Marathi historian is not relevant neither required by the platform. Citation is relevant and unless you have that, anything that is mentioned is not verifiable.

:please respect the rules of the platform. Sn cgh (talk) 10:31, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

::You write only Sambha to Sambhaji Maharaj. Aurangzeb used to call them Sambha. His name was Sambhaji Aryan Bagkar (talk) 17:14, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:::Aurangzeb was a figure that lived 300 years ago. The reference in citation also mentions Sambha because that was his birth name.

:::If you have a source that says otherwise about Sambha’s birthname in a more reliable manner, then please cite it and indicate the page number and quote the relevant paragraph.

:::Also, please refrain from changing quoted text from citations. That’s malpractice. You cannot alter historian’s own words that’s mentioned in quotations. Sn cgh (talk) 22:55, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:Sambha is the name that is directly explicitly mentioned in the historical sources. These other words are just titles that are added later on. That does not constitute a name. Please keep in mind, this is a neutral platform and we hope you respect that. Sn cgh (talk) 10:33, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:I have requested intervention by the Admins to ensure that the rules of adding information are respected regarding citing reliable and authentic sources. Sn cgh (talk) 10:35, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:You said “Yesubai was an empress consort, not a consort”. Can you please provide an authentic historical source explicitly testifying to that.

:please also mention the page number and the paragraph in the text where it shows that. Sn cgh (talk) 10:37, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

::Google says consort means wife, empress means queen and you know she was a yesubai.

::Feedback Aryan Bagkar (talk) 17:10, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

:::Yesubai was a consort because I did not find any reliable source proving her individual formal coronation ceremony which would testify her capaicty as a Queen instead of a queen-consort, meanwhile empress is the coronated female head of an empire, with or without an emperor - also considering that the Maratha dominion was not an empire, but still a kingdom in her lifetime, therefore, Sambha was not an emperor either and therefore, the term does not apply in either context. If you believe otherwise, then please cite your sources (as usual, with page number and relevant text. Please keep in mind that your sources should be reliable historical accounts by reliable historians at least). Sn cgh (talk) 23:06, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

::::It is your fault that you do not have evidence that Yesubai was crowned. Aryan Bagkar (talk) 03:51, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::@Toddy105 would it please be possible to revert the full contents of the page to how they were on the date you proposed in the ANI, so I can refer back to talk discussion where more text should have been added and the suggestion of {{fact}} can be made where necessary. Sn cgh (talk) 15:41, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::You made the claim on coronation event, you need to add evidence. It is your edit, therefore, your responsibility. Sn cgh (talk) 15:42, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::For your clarity, when someone, addresses you as sir/madam Mister/Miss, it does not become your name.

:::So, you insisting on Sambhaji instead of the proper name Sambha, and attributing it to Aurangzeb, who was the emperor at the time, is only your own pov with bias.

:::It would be like someone insisting on writing Aurangzeb The Great everytime they were mentioned. Sn cgh (talk) 23:16, 1 March 2025 (UTC)

::::Let me give you an example, if a person's name is Someshwar, how can he be called Somu?

::::Sambhaji Maharaj was a Maratha king, and it is not right to spoil the name of a king. Aryan Bagkar (talk) 03:47, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::Please cite your sources for any claims you wish to add there.

:::::it is not up to me or any other editor to include citations on your editions. The best I can do is indicate for you where a citation is needed. Sn cgh (talk) 15:37, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::You have opened your profile 6 days ago. I have been in this field for 1 year.Remember this Aryan Bagkar (talk) 17:34, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::Again, it the Someshwar example would only hold valid if the birth name is Someshwar. In this case, it was Somu —- Sambha. I hope it is clear to you now. Sn cgh (talk) 15:44, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::Sambhaji Maharaj's name is Sambhaji since his birth. Who told you that his name is Sambha from birth??

::::::Feedback Aryan Bagkar (talk) 17:31, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::Please add your sources and if you are here longer than I am, you have learnt to respect the rules of documenting information on this platform. Sn cgh (talk) 09:58, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::Also @Aryan Bagkar

:::::::you just added citations 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 at the end of the following paragraph instead of indicating exactly what part of the paragraph each citation corresponds to.

:::::::you have also not mentioned the page number in the citation and the relevant text.

:::::::Yesubai Bhonsale (née Jivubai / Rajau / Rajasa Shirke) was the wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and referred to as Maharani of the Maratha Kingdom. She was second officially coronated Queen of Swarajya.She was also mother of Chhatrapati Shahu I. Later on she became Rajmata in Chhatrapati Shahu I's reign. Chhatrapati Sambhaji had shared his power with Empress Yesubai. When chhatrapati Sambhaji was away from the maratha capital due to battles, all the political decisions were made by her.

:::::::I have now indicated against each claim in the lead paragraph that you need to add citation WITH PAGE NUMBER AND RELEVANT PARAGRAPH QUOTED.

:::::::Please add that information. Sn cgh (talk) 10:08, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::@Aryan Bagkaryou added this text: “Eventually, in 1707, after Aurangzeb's death, a succession struggle within the Mughal Empire led to Shahu being released by Bahadur Shah I.[citation needed] This event marked the beginning of Shahu's rise to power and the expansion of the Maratha Empire.”

:::::::This is irrelevant to the page as this page discuss a completely different personality. Please include that in the article dedicated to Shahu I. Though, this would likely already be reflected there. Sn cgh (talk) 10:15, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::Just because you don't have proof doesn't mean the event isn't true.

::::::::I am filling the information according to the fact that I know a lot about the history of the Maratha Empire Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:51, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::@Aryan Bagkar

:::::::You wrote: “ Regnal name

:::::::Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Maharani Yesubai (means keerthi) Rani Saheb Bhosale ”

:::::::you do realise Regnal names are reserved for Monarchs and not applicable to consorts? Sn cgh (talk) 10:17, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::You can see Wikipedia pages of other Maratha queens (Soyrabai, Tarabai etc) Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:48, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Other wikipedia pages are not supposed to be used as citations. Please respect the rules. Sn cgh (talk) 13:25, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Yes, I saw. You have made the same erroneous edits there as well with regards to “regnal names” without citations or explanation. To facilitate you, I would make similar suggestions of adding citations there as well, so it is easier for you to place your references there.

:::::::::please add the one relevant to this personality. I have added the placeholder for your convenience.

:::::::::Also, please bear in mind that you CANNOT use other wikipedia pages as your cited references. Sn cgh (talk) 13:28, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::@Aryan BagkarIn your cited sources, I did not find evidence of Sambha being named Sambhaji at birth. Can you please add the page number and the relevant paragraph in the citation to make it clear?

:::::::Thanks. Sn cgh (talk) 10:18, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::Do you have proof that Sambhaji Maharaj's name is Sambha ??

::::::::Because if you ask anyone in Maharashtra, he will tell you the name of Sambhaji Maharaj. Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:42, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::This is not how wikipedia works. Asking anyone is Mahrashtra is not how you are supposed to document information here. Please respect tje rules of the platform. Sn cgh (talk) 13:22, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Actually I do. The sources I cited, had in the quoted text, name written as Sambha/Sambhu which you edited directly in the references. This is not a minor edit or spelling correction. You cannot change the quoted text of a historian from a reference.

:::::::::if you believe otherwise, please quote your references with text. Sn cgh (talk) 13:24, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::If Sambhaji Maharaj was called Shambhu but Sambha was not, it is an insult to him. Aryan Bagkar (talk) 13:44, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::if you want to say sambha, please provide such proof. Aryan Bagkar (talk) 13:46, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::I already have included my sources there proving his actual name was Sambha. You wrongly rephrased that referenced text (malpractice). I will proceed to revert it to how it is originally written in the source itself and copied directly. Please refrain from changing that quoted text again. Sn cgh (talk) 11:06, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::And tell me do you mean Sambha or Shambhu? Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:45, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Again, please use cited references for the version you believe to be true. Sn cgh (talk) 13:47, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::Yesubai’s husband’s birthname is mentioned as “Sambha” in oldest available sources which I have cited already. It is explicitly written as Sambha there.

:::::::::If you believe his birth name was different than what has been quoted, please cite your source with pg. number and paragraph. Sn cgh (talk) 13:58, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::@Aryan Bagkar

:::::::You have written there : Chief Queen Consort of the Maratha Kingdom.

:::::::Do you mean to say that there were other wives and concubines of her husband?

:::::::If not, then she was the only consort, in which case, please correct it. Sn cgh (talk) 15:23, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::I used to be called chief queen consort, पट्टराणी Aryan Bagkar (talk) 10:29, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::When you say “chief” it is usually an indication of presence of “others” in the same rank above whom, someone is made the “chief consort”.

:::::::::you might wanna review that. Sn cgh (talk) 11:02, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::Tell me who are you objecting to all my things..... are you a Marathi person? Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:35, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::I am an editor just like you. Wikipedia has certain rules on how to edit content and to add information that needs to be respected by everyone including Marathi speakers.

:::::::::::You can find the instructions here:

:::::::::::https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Editing

:::::::::::Please follow these instructions next time to maintain the integrity of this platform. Sn cgh (talk) 17:56, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::If you ask the historians of Maharashtra, they will tell you what I am trying to tell you Aryan Bagkar (talk) 11:36, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::Then please cite the sources you are referring to. Sn cgh (talk) 17:57, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::::::::I just want to say that what you are saying is not true to history, but there is no point in telling you Aryan Bagkar (talk) 03:51, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::::::::::Again, if you believe your version to be true, then for you to write that version on this platform, you will need to add citations.

:::::::::::::Moreover, please do not remove any edits I make that are backed up by reliable citations.

:::::::::::::Use the talk page instead to raise any concerns you may have. Please avoid getting into an Edit war. Sn cgh (talk) 07:33, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Hi Sn cgh! I noticed that you recently made an edit at :Yesubai Bhonsale and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. -- Toddy1 (talk) 22:14, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Hello, I'm Toddy1. I noticed that you recently made lots of edits to :Yesubai Bhonsale in which your edit summaries were {{tq|q=y|corrected typos}}, but this did not appear to describe the changes you made. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on :Talk:Yesubai Bhonsale. Thanks.-- Toddy1 (talk) 22:14, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Information.svg Hello, I'm Toddy1. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, :Pune district, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave a message on :Talk:Pune district. Thank you. -- Toddy1 (talk) 22:14, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Information orange.svg If you think that the articles currently called :Maloji Bhosale, Shahaji Bhosale, :Shivaji and :Shahaji should have different names please use the process for requesting a single page move at :WP:RSPM for each of them. You will need to provide reasons for your proposed change of name. Normally the best reasons include evidence that your preferred name is the commonly-used name in English. There will then be a week-long discussion where other members can express their view.

What is not helpful is you changing the names in articles like you have done, yet again, in the article on :Pune. Please stop doing this. Use the process for requesting a single page move at :WP:RSPM instead.-- Toddy1 (talk) 10:15, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Information orange.svg Sources such as the "Encyclopaedia of Indian cinema" are not reliable sources about events in 17th Century India. I have therefore reverted the edits you made today to the article on :Yesubai Bhonsale.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:38, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:On the positive side, thanks for providing useful edit summaries.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:39, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

::You were probably right to revert me. I had not-entirely understood your edits, and was trying to decide whether to self-revert at the time you reverted my edit.

::Please can you use the article talk page (:Talk:Yesubai Bhonsale) to explain which sources support what. There are seven citations at the end of the lead. Since you are trying to revamp the article, I think you need to look at these, and move them to statements that they support (and explain what they support on the talk page).-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:50, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:::The encylopedia of indian cinema is already referred to in the article. I will look again where that is and remove that edit too if it makes sense to. Sn cgh (talk) 12:54, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:::Ok I will do that in a few hours, please retain my edits though in the meantime.. ;) Sn cgh (talk) 12:55, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:I agree and I corrected that. It was a mistaken paste. I have made the changes again. Please let’s stick to facts Sn cgh (talk) 12:52, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Ambox warning pn.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on :Yesubai Bhonsale. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -- Toddy1 (talk) 14:33, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:Hello, I see that you have reverted all tue changes back but I made those reversions based on the citations.

:this is not an edit war.

:The current edits are not supported by the citations.

:Could you please elaborate why you reverted my changes as I do not see the citations on the life section.

:The version should be fact based, not the one majority thinks should be there because then we run the risk of reflecting a bias. I hope that is not the purpose.

:I have already indicated the information that is not backed by either by facts or reliable citations.

:please review the edits again. Sn cgh (talk) 14:54, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Increase

Regarding :Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Increase#Yesubai Bhonsale:

  • You need to say what level of protection you want - you can see the choices at Wikipedia:Protection policy#Comparison table
  • You need to give a valid reason. There has been no IP vandalism. There is an ongoing edit war, in which one participant (you) is using the article talk page, and the other (Aryan Bagkar) is not. But since you have both broken the 3 revert rule, you might not like inviting admins into your conflict.

-- Toddy1 (talk) 17:40, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

:If you agree to the edits of the page I made, then I request to revert to those but locking the page after that is probably a better idea so any user is pushed towards the talk page. Sn cgh (talk) 17:43, 26 February 2025 (UTC)

Citation needed tag

Hi. I notice you're adding a large number of citation needed tags to an article. While there is not against policy, if an article is poorly cited, you should use :Template:Unreferenced or :Template:Unreferenced section instead. Excessive use of the citation needed tag is discouraged. (See :Template:Citation_needed#When_not_to_use_this_template). RegentsPark (comment) 13:28, 3 March 2025 (UTC)

:Ok, I will do that. Sn cgh (talk) 13:43, 3 March 2025 (UTC)
