Vakkom is an area of the Thiruvananthapuram Metropolitan Area near Kadakkavoor in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India.{{cite web |url=http://www.censusindia.gov.in/Census_Data_2001/Village_Directory/Population_data/Population_5000_and_Above.aspx|title=Census of India : Villages with population 5000 & above|publisher=Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India|access-date=10 December 2008}} It is 35 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. Vakkom Panchayat is surrounded by backwaters (Kayal). Neighbouring panchayats are Anjengo, Kadakkavoor, Vettoor, Cherunniyoor and Manampoor. The towns within 9 km are Varkala and Attingal. The nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and Kadakkavoor (1 km) is the nearest railway station.
