After the 2000–01 season, the WPHL merged with the Central Hockey League.{{cite web |url=https://www.djournal.com/sports/wphl-chl-merger-story/article_788f20c1-5fcb-51b3-a5d2-6f74f3b6a025.html |title=WPHL/CHL merger story |work=Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal |date=May 31, 2001}} Former WPHL teams continued to play in the CHL until the 2012–13 season.
