- Keep. Olympedia has an [https://www.olympedia.org/athletes/18061 extensive] biography of him which is SIGCOV. He was an Olympic medalist and German national champion sprinter and later became a noted U.S. Secret Service agent, receiving SIGCOV for that too, e.g. [https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-pittsburgh-press/163456104/]. He meets WP:GNG. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:20, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Is Olympedia a reliable source? I am not seeing an editorial board or any named authors on their website... That is concerning.4meter4 (talk) 00:34, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Yes it's reliable: its written by a team of Olympic historians such as Bill Mallon, and previously much of the content was hosted on Sports-Reference, also a reliable source. BeanieFan11 (talk) 01:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Or, put another way: See the site's "about" page. ☺ Uncle G (talk) 10:22, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
::::Yes I saw that. No managing editor named or editorial board given. It gives a list of authors but does not tie the authors to specific entries. It's rather vague other than to say most of the members belong to the International Society of Olympic Historians; but that society is open to anyone who pays dues so that doesn't really mean anything. Literally anyone can join if they write a cheque or use a credit card. I wasn't impressed.4meter4 (talk) 14:57, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep Olympedia and the Pittsburgh Press article discovered by BeanieFan11 are enough to fulfill GNG for this well-before internet era individual. There is probably more coverage somewhere in physical newspaper archives too but obviously we can't access that. Lookslikely (talk) 18:58, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep, meets WP:GNG. There is other coverage of him in digitised newspapers (Newspapers.com), as an athlete, a secret service agent and, as BeanieFan11 has shown, as the head of the United States Secret Service. (Olympedia may or may not be reliable, but the information it provides can be used to search other reliable sources.) RebeccaGreen (talk) 13:15, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
